Product catalog summary
General Overview
The CV & SV oil-immersed on-load tap changer (OLTC) is designed for regulating transformers, featuring a rolling type dual resistor transition structure. It can be mounted on the top of the transformer tank and operated locally or remotely via a motor drive unit.
Technical Specifications
The OLTC adheres to IEC-60214-1(2003) standards. Key specifications include:
  • Max rated through-current: 350A to 700A.
  • Rated frequency: 50 or 60 Hz.
  • Short-circuit current test: Thermic (3 secs.) 5-10 kA, Dynamic (peak value) 12.5-25 kA.
  • Insulation to ground: Highest voltage for equipment is 40.5 kV or 72.5 kV.
  • Mechanical life: Not less than 800,000 operations.
  • Electrical life: Not less than 200,000 operations.
Model Explanation
Model designation includes parameters such as the number of phases, max rated through current, highest voltage, and connection mode. For example, CV III 350 D / 72.5 indicates a 3-phase, 350A, D-connection model with a 72.5 kV voltage rating.
Terms and Definitions
Key terms include rated through current, step voltage, and breaking capacity, with curves and conditions provided for determining these values.
Special Design Considerations
For high voltage or wide regulation range transformers, proper connection of the tap winding is crucial to prevent sparking and gas generation. The bias voltage should not exceed 15kV, and tie-in resistors may be required.
Installation and Operation
The OLTC is mounted onto the transformer tank cover via a head flange, suitable for both standard and bell-type transformers. Installation must consider insulation levels and environmental conditions.
Motor Drive Units
SHM-III, CMA7, and CMA9 motor drive units are specified with different power ratings and operational parameters. The SHM-III unit is noted for its integrated control system and reliability. Technical data such as rated power, voltage, current, frequency, and protective degree are provided.
OLTC Operation Controllers
The HMK8 controller facilitates remote control of the SHM-III motor drive unit, displaying OLTC switching status and tap positions. It supports communication with a host computer via RS485 for remote supervision. The HMC-3C position indicator and automatic voltage regulators ET-SZ6 and HMK-2A are also described.
OLTC Accessories
Accessories include the bevel gear unit for torque transmission, protective relays (QJ4G-25 and QJ6-25) for fault protection, and pressure relief devices for safety during high-pressure scenarios.
Online Oil Filter Plant
The use of an online oil filter plant is recommended for frequent OLTC operations, especially in high-demand environments, to maintain oil quality by removing impurities and reducing water content.
Appendices
Detailed dimensions and schematic diagrams for various OLTC components are provided, crucial for installation and maintenance purposes.

The voltage gradient between the terminals of change-over selector and the upper terminals of the selector for the coarse regulation. (refer to Fig.9) Note: Because of the practical arrangement of the change-over selector, the voltage gradient between the terminal "0" of the change-over selector and the upper terminal of the selector corresponds to the insulation distance "a" (same phase) or the insulation distance "b" (phase to phase). The insulation distance between the fine regulation selector and the change-over selector is principally not to be considered. 4.7 OLTC insulation to earth OLTC...

5. Special design Potential connection of the tap winding For high voltage or wide regulation range on-load regulating transformer, during the operation of the change-over selector the tap winding is disconnected momentarily from the main winding, the regulating section will be broken away from the main coil and at status of "suspend", thus voltage regulating winding will gain the new potential that depends upon coupling capacities Ce (to ground) and Cw (between adjacent tap winding), refer to Fig.11. Generally this potential is different from the one of voltage regulating winding before change-over...
