General Description: The MR Disc Brake Caliper is designed for use with a 12.7mm thick brake disc. It can be mounted at any angle around the disc, ideally in the horizontal 3 and 9 o'clock positions to prevent bias. The caliper is compatible with various actuators, and the number of units used depends on the disc size and required brake torque.
Specifications: The caliper weighs 6.5 kg and allows for an 8mm pad wear. The total pad area is 58 cm2 with dimensions of 63.5 x 46 x 12.7mm. The pad material is asbestos-free with high friction. The standard assembly is right-hand, with left-hand and marine versions available.
Mounting and Discs: Inclined mounting kits are available. The minimum disc diameter for the MR caliper is 250mm. A range of standard 12.7mm thick discs is available from Twiflex.
Controllers: Twiflex offers controllers for single or multi-caliper installations compatible with electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Pad Replacement Procedure: Secure the installation, remove pad springs, and replace worn pads. Clean the disc and mounts before fitting new pads and replacing springs. Refer to Publication M1060 for bedding-in procedures.
Available Spares: Key components include arm assemblies, caliper base, pad assembly, tension spring, torsion spring, and pad spring. A spring kit is also available.
Thruster Options: Various thrusters are available, including pneumatically applied, mechanically applied, and spring applied options, with maximum braking forces ranging from 0.74 kN to 10.8 kN.

Left-hand assembly can be supplied on request or can easily be changed on site. A marine version is Twiflex Disc Brakes must be used with Twiflex asbestos free brake pads. The use of any other brake pads will invalidate the warranty. Twiflex Limted reserves the right to modify or change the design without prior notice.

General Description The MR disc brake calipers should be used with a brake disc of 12.7mm thick. They may be used with any of the series of actuators listed below. Normally one or two units will be used per disc but the number may be increased, depending on disc size and brake torque required. Mounting: MR brake calipers can be mounted at any angle around the periphery of the disc, but ideally they should be horizontal in the 3 and 9 o’clock position on the disc to prevent bias due to the weight of the thruster.
