Product catalog summary
Introduction
The EMIA-Step is a new addition to HORIBA's Carbon/Sulfur Analyzer lineup, featuring a tubular electric resistance heating furnace. It is designed for precise determination of free and combined carbon and sulfur using a temperature-controllable furnace and HORIBA’s original NDIR technology for accurate quantitative analysis.

Specifications
The analyzer operates within a temperature range from room temperature to 1450°C. It requires a sample amount of 1.00 ± 0.10 g and offers a measurement range of 0.0003 to 6.0% for carbon and 0.0004 to 1.0% for sulfur. The device dimensions are 443 x 725 x 710 mm for the combustion unit and 271 x 725 x 710 mm for the measurement unit, with respective weights of 77 kg and 53 kg.

Features
The EMIA-Step provides temperature stability from low to high temperatures, making it suitable for samples that decompose easily. It includes a dust-filter mechanism to prevent dust from affecting the analysis, ensuring high accuracy and sensitivity. The software offers user-friendly navigation for analysis and maintenance, with automatic fault detection and recovery guidance.

Applications
This analyzer is used in R&D and quality control across various fields, including non-ferrous alloys, chemicals, ceramics, and electronic materials. It is compliant with several ASTM and ISO standards, making it versatile for different materials such as steel, nickel, and petroleum products.

Compliant Standards

EMIA-Step In addition to the “EMIA-Pro/Expert” series of high-frequency induction furnace type analyzers, the “EMIA-Step” tubular electric resistance heating furnace analyzer has just been added to our Carbon/Sulfur Analyzer lineup. Determination of free/combined carbon and sulfur is made possible thanks to the precise temperature-controllable furnace, enabling programmed temperature increases along the analysis. HORIBA’s original NDIR technology allows for accurate and sensitive quantitative analysis of trace amount of carbon and sulfur. Enables temperature control starting at a low temperature range EMIA-Step provides good temperature stability from low to high temperatures. This broadens the application range to samples containing substances that are easily decomposed and burned at low temperatures. Grease Sulfur powder <Temperature rise control from 300 °C to 900 °C> You can easily see the decomposition combustion of organic matter and inorganic matter respectively. Graphite powder Time [s] New dust-filter provides easy maintenance capability EMIA-Step adopted the proven dust-filter mechanism in the high frequency induction heating models. The filter unit collects the dust generated by combustion at high temperature. This prevents the dust from adhering to piping after the combustion furnace, and reduces adsorption of CO2 and SO2 gases by dust. This mechanism makes highly accurate and sensitive analyses possible.
