Helicopter Engine Air Intake Filters The Hilliard Corporation was approached by Schweizer Aircraft Corporation to develop a custom dry media filter for a helicopter application. Hilliard engineers developed a specific media and pleat configuration to meet the customer’s air flow, pressure drop, and dirt-holding requirements. The design was optimized through extensive flight and ground testing to yield the maximum performance for minimum weight. The dry media simplifies service through use of compressed air or other environmentally friendly techniques. The design eliminates the time and labor required to dry and re-oil traditional filter types. Hilliard manufactures many other air and oil filter designs in the Elmira plant. This resulted in rapid prototyping, testing, and expedited project completion under budget.
