Explanation of ISO Pipe Thread The ISO 228/1 and 7/1 threads were created by the International Standard Organization to standardize the nomenclature of several international pipe threads. The 228/1 is parallel thread system where a pressure tight seal is not made on the thread. With the 228/1, the seal is usually made metal-to-metal against the female port or with a gasket.
