Product catalog summary
Overview
Herbold HV Series plastcompactors are designed for processing and preparing plastics through agglomeration, drying, re-crystallisation, and compounding. They handle materials such as PC, PE, PP, PS, PA, PET, PVC, ABS, and other thermoplastics, including composites, in both wet and dry forms.

Applications
  • Agglomeration of powders, fibres, film, and foam materials.
  • Drying of these materials post-washing.
  • Re-crystallisation of PET flakes after hot-washing.
  • Compounding of thermoplastics with fillers.

Process Description
The process involves continuous operation between a rotating and a fixed compaction disc, equipped with replaceable kneading rails. Pre-granulated material is fed into the processing area, heated by friction, and processed into high-density granulate.

Agglomeration
Material is softened and fused into worm-shaped formations, which are then granulated to the desired size. Dust and fine particles are separated and recycled.

Drying
Moisture is removed from materials, achieving residual moisture levels below 2%, suitable for further processing.

Compounding
Materials are prepared and warmed until fillers are absorbed.

Crystallisation
Molecular alignment and crystallisation occur without reaching the melting point, maintaining viscosity.

System Components
  • Primary granulator (cutter/shredder).
  • Pneumatic transport systems.
  • Flake silo with feeding screw.
  • Additive dosing.
  • Compactor with motorised disc adjustment and water-cooling.
  • Secondary granulator with various screen sizes.
  • Air separator for fine particle recycling.
  • Electrical system with automatic controls.

Performance Data
Throughput varies by material type and machine model, with examples provided for different plastics and configurations.

Advantages
  • Continuous operation with precise control.
  • Low wear costs due to replaceable kneading rails.
  • Screenless design resistant to foreign bodies.

Plastcompactor HV 30 with roller feeding device for non-woven fabrics and mesh basket hopper for edge trims and tapes > The pre-granulated material is warmed up until it starts to soften and the surface starts to fuse. This results in worm-shaped formations up to 60 mm in length, which are then sucked off and reduced to therequired agglomerate size in a granulator. The agglomerate size can be changed by selecting a differentscreen size in the follow-up granulator. The reground final product is fed through an air separator thatseparates out the dust and fine particles contained in the agglomerate...
