Introduction: This document provides installation, operation, and maintenance instructions for Hayward True Union Ball Check
Valves. It emphasizes the importance of following these guidelines to prevent injury and ensure proper functioning.
Guarantee and Responsibility: Hayward guarantees its products against defects in material and workmanship but does not assume responsibility for damages or injuries from improper use or chemical incompatibility. Users should verify compatibility and operating conditions.
Installation Guidelines: - Ensure systems are depressurized and drained before installation or maintenance.
- Consider temperature effects on piping systems to prevent mechanical loading on equipment.
- Use caution with PVC and CPVC products below 40°F as they become brittle.
- Avoid direct installation of metal pipes into plastic connections; use plastic pipe sections to mitigate thermal expansion and vibration issues.
Socket Connection: Follow ASTM specifications for solvent cementing. Ensure surfaces are clean and free of contaminants. Apply primer and cement as instructed, allowing adequate set and cure times based on temperature.
Threaded Connection: Use Teflon tape on threads, wrapping in a clockwise direction. Tighten joints using a strap wrench to avoid excessive stress.
Flanged Connection: Tighten flange bolts to compress the gasket without distorting flanges. Use a cross-sequence tightening method and adhere to recommended torque values.
Orientation and Flow: Install valves at least 10 pipe diameters from
pumps and 5 from elbows. Ensure correct flow direction; valves are suitable for upflow but not downflow lines.
Repair Instructions: Depressurize and drain the system before repairs. Follow safety data sheets for specific applications. Replace o-rings and seals using a repair kit, lubricating with non-petroleum-based products.
