Duplex Bag Filter

Duplex Bag Filter

Product catalog summary
Warning: Failure to follow instructions may result in serious injury. Depressurize and drain the system before installation or maintenance. Maximum fluid velocity is 5 ft/sec. Caution is advised for PVC and CPVC products below 40°F.
Installation:
  • Inspection: Inspect the duplex bag filter for transit damage upon receipt and report any damage immediately.
  • Location and Support: Install at least 24” downstream of a Hayward strainer and bolt to the floor for proper piping installation.
  • Piping Installation: Use a minimum of 20” of plastic pipe upstream and downstream. Install a 2” drain valve on the bottom port and a vent fitting on top. A pressure gauge can be added to the vent fitting.
  • Flanged Connection: Tighten flange bolts to compress the gasket without excessive stress. Use lubricated metal bolts and soft rubber gaskets.
Operation:
  • Operating Information: The filter is part of the Hayward filtration system, concentrating solids in a disposable bag with minimal liquid loss.
  • System Startup: Follow the procedure for changing the bag and ensure the system is purged of air before applying full pressure.
  • Bag Change Procedure: Move the handle to change the active filter, drain the inactive filter, and replace the bag.

Duplex Bag Filter-1

MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED FLUID VELOCITY THROUGH THIS EQUIPMENT IS 5 FT/SEC. BECAUSE SOME PVC AND CPVC PLASTIC PRODUCTS BECOME BRITTLE BELOW 40 F HAYWARD INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS RECOMMENDS CAUTION IN INSTALLATION AND USE BELOW THIS TEMPERATURE. INSPECTION Upon receipt of the duplex bag filter, inspect it for damage that might have occurred during transit. Report any damage to the carrier immediately. LOCATION AND SUPPORT The Hayward duplex bag filter should be installed not less than 24Д down stream of a Hayward strainer. The duplex bag filter must be bolted to the floor to insure proper piping installation. PIPING INSTALLATION > Do not forget the A 2Ԕ line must be piped both to and from the duplex bag filter. It is recommended that a 2 drain valve be installed on the bottom 2Ԕ NPT port of each vessel. The vent fitting must be installed on the top of the unit. O-ring. A 3/8 id tube should be attached over the barb and secured with a hose clamp on the vent fitting. This hose will be used to direct the flow from the vent fitting. T he top of the vent fitting is normally plugged. This plug can be removed and replaced with a pressure gauge that measures inlet pressure to the duplex bag filter. It is recommended that a gauge guard be installed between the filter vent and the gauge. > FLANGED CONNECTION: Flange bolts should be tight enough to slightly compress the gasket and make a good seal, without distorting or putting excessive stress on the flanges. Suitable washers should be used between the bolt head and flange and the nut and flange. Bolts should be tightened in alternating sequence. RECOMMENDED FLANGE BOLT TORQUE FLANGE SIZE BOLT DIAMETER. TORQUE FT. LBS. NOTE: USE WELL LUBRICATED METAL BOLTS AND NUTS. USE SOFT RUBBER GASKETS. OPERATING INFORMATION The Hayward glass filled polypropylene duplex bag filter is designed as an integral part of the Hayward filtration-duplex bag filter system. Installed down stream of the Hayward strainer, the Hayward duplex bag filter concentrates the solids, and provides convenient, economical removal of the solids from the process with very low liquid loss. Large solids are separated from the liquid with the Hayward strainer, while smaller solids are separated by the bag filter . The bag filter concentrates the solids in a disposable bag, while clean liquid is piped back to the process. >
