Operating Conditions: Users must consult Hayward literature for pressure and temperature limitations. The maximum fluid velocity is eight feet per second to avoid damage from water hammer effects. Products are designed for non-compressible liquids and should not be used with compressible fluids.
Installation Considerations: Systems should be depressurized and drained before installation or maintenance. Temperature effects on piping systems must be considered to prevent mechanical loading on equipment. PVC and CPVC products should be handled with caution below 40°F due to brittleness.
Connection Types:- Socket Connections: Follow ASTM specifications for solvent cementing. Ensure surfaces are clean and free of contaminants. Apply primer and cement as instructed, allowing proper set and cure times based on temperature.
- Threaded Connections: Use Teflon tape on threads, wrapping in a clockwise direction. Tighten joints using a strap wrench to avoid excessive stress.
- Spigot Ends: Follow fusion joining instructions for polypropylene and PVDF valves.
Actuator Connection: Air actuated diaphragm valves have specific NPT air connections. The bottom connection opens the
valve, and the top connection closes it.
Repair and Maintenance: Diaphragm replacement is the primary maintenance task. Ensure the system is depressurized and drained before proceeding. Diaphragms should be inspected for wear and replaced as needed, with proper alignment during installation.
Torque Specifications: Recommended torque values for manual and actuated valves are provided, varying by valve size and diaphragm material.
