GVS-C Current Sectionaliser For Pole Mounting and Substation Applications - 1

The GVS-C is part of the award winning GVR family and combines the high reliability of vacuum interruption with the controlled environment and high dielectric strength of SF6, in a compact, maintenance-free unit. Since SF6 is only used as insulation, there is no health hazard from toxic byproducts of arcing. GVS-C Current Sectionaliser For Pole Mounting and Substation Applications The GVS-C is a stand-alone, circuit-opening device, which can be used in conjunction with source side reclosers or reclosing circuit breakers to automatically isolate the permanent faults and confine the outages to a smaller section of line. The power required to operate the control circuitry and mechanism is obtained from the line via a single phase auxiliary voltage transformer. Application Key Features » Superior, proven Fit & Forget technology with minimal maintenance » Environmentally friendly vacuum interruption produces no by-products » The lightweight corrosion resistant aluminium tank makes the GVS-C easier to transport and install » The EPDM or silicone bushings are tested for tracking and erosion to IEC 61109 and are resistant to damage from vandalism or mishandling » Endurance tested to 10,000 operations » Bi-directional - senses fault current in either direction » Can be upgraded to full auto-reclosing circuit breaker* » The unit (GVS-CR) can be supplied complete with an RTU to allow the sectionaliser to be remotely controlled or with the facility to allow the customer to install their own purpose built RTU » Fully user configurable settings including: - Number of faults to lockout, 1, 2 or 3 - Adjustable phase fault setting 10 to 630 amps in 10 amp increments - Adjustable Earth fault setting 5 to 325 amps in 5 amp increments - Adjustable reclaim time 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds * Note: Please specify when ordering to ensure the unit has the relevant facilities installed prior to despatch to allow upgrade to a full auto-recloser. The patented, single coil magnetic actuator provides consistent performance and a dramatic reduction in moving parts. Materials and finishes have been carefully chosen for reliability – from EPDM bushings, tested for tracking and erosion to IEC 61109, in salt, fog and other environments, to the neodymium iron boron permanent magnets used in the mechanism. your power in safe hands HAWKER SIDDELEY SWITCHGEAR

TYPICAL DRAWING GVS-CR The sectionaliser (S1) is not designed to open on fault but can close on to a fault without sustaining any damage. It senses the fault current (F1) on the line, which is then interrupted by the back up protection device (R1) and will open during the first, second or third dead time of the circuit. However, if the fault is transient and the reclosing device (R1) successfully recloses then the counts to lockout is automatically reset. Since the sectionaliser does not require a time current base, it is easily co-ordinated with other protective devices on the distribution...
