Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Haskel Air Pressure Amplifier is designed to increase air pressure using a differential area piston assembly. It operates efficiently without air line lubrication and can stall at maximum pressure without energy consumption.
Key Features
  • Long seal life and easy maintenance
  • No risk of heat, flame, or spark
  • Wide range of models and options
  • No air line lubrication required
  • Variable outlet pressure and flow capability
Applications
These amplifiers are versatile for various industrial applications, offering a comprehensive range of models.
Sizing Air Amplifiers
Proper sizing requires consideration of outlet pressure, air drive pressure, available air drive flow, supply pressure, and required flow. Duty cycle and high-pressure requirements are also important factors.
Operation Guidelines
Careful sizing is necessary for high outlet pressure applications due to moisture in compressed air. Dry gases like nitrogen are recommended for high-pressure sections. Managing cycling rate and operation in unloaded conditions is crucial to minimize maintenance.
Cycle Rates
Continuous duty at maximum cycling rates is not recommended. Adjusting cycling speed for continuous applications can enhance seal life.
Model Selection
Various models are available with specific maximum pressures and displacement per cycle. Performance curves assist in selecting the appropriate model based on required outlet pressure and flow.
Optional Modifications
Available modifications include air controls, external pilots, stroke counters, and extreme service cycling options.
Standard Vertical Air Amplifier Systems
These systems offer amplified pressure and high flow, utilizing plant air with a vertical receiver to save space. They automatically stall when the storage tank is full and resume operation as needed.
Specifications
Specifications for air pilot switches and air pressure amplifiers are detailed. The Normally Closed Air Pilot Switch for AA series models controls up to 200 psi, while the Normally Open Air Pilot Switch with Relief Valve & Air Controls regulates up to 124 psi, with an optional 200 psi spring.
Procedures
Instructions for specifying model numbers and settings within a 50-180 psi range are provided, with examples such as AAD-2-MA-1 set at 70 psi increasing.
Optional Modifications
For the 8AAD-2 series, modifications include air controls, external pilot modification, electrical and mechanical stroke counters, single stroke modification, extreme service cycling modification, and no-load runaway modification.
Technical Specifications
The 8AAD-2 series is a double-acting, single-stage air pressure amplifier with an 8” drive (203mm) and pressure outputs up to 20 bar (300 psi). Maximum outlet pressure is determined by the area ratio multiplied by drive pressure plus supply pressure.

Introduction Haskel air pressure amplifiers offer the most comprehensive range in the industry combining simple principles of operation with rugged construction suitable for the most demanding industrial applications. An alternative to the purchase of a dedicated high pressure compressor, Haskel air amplifiers are compact, require no electrical or mechanical drive connections, are powered by the same air that they amplify, and can be mounted in any position. Long seal life and easy maintainance No heat, flame or spark risk. Wide range of models, controls, and options. No air line lubrication...

Sizing Air Amplifiers Several factors are involved in the proper sizing of Haskel air amplifiers. Some involve the specific parameters of the application while some involve the application itself. Specific parameters include: • What is the outlet pressure required (Po)? • What is the minimum available air drive pressure (Pa)? • What is the available air drive flow (Qa)? • What is the supply pressure (Ps)? (In most cases, Pa = Ps) • What is the required flow (Q) at the outlet pressure? More than one amplifier may be required: in certain high flow or heavy duty applications two or more amplifiers...

Model Selection Chart Max Air Drive PSIG (BAR) Ratio Max Inlet PSIG Max Outlet (BAR) PSIG (BAR) Using Performance Curves All Haskel air amplifiers are variable pressure, variable flow devices within the limits of their sizes and ratios. Outlet pressure can be controlled by regulating the air drive and/or air supply pressure (depending on model) while outlet flow can be controlled by adjusting the air flow to the drive piston with a corresponding change in cycle rate. The curves are easily read by comparing the required outlet pressure with the (available) air drive/supply curve and meeting the...

Amplifier Systems A complete pneumatic system designed to provide amplified pressure and momentary high flow. Vertical receiver reduces footprint, saving floor space. Utilizes available plant air (up to 95 psi) to both the supply and drive inlets which automatically stalls once the storage tank has been filled to about double the supply pressure. The amplifier will sense any use of air from the tank, and resume operation again to stall at about 5 times supply pressure. The regulator on the tank output is provided to control the output pressure and flow, up to about (momentarily) 150 scfm. Also...
