Air Pressure Amplifiers

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Haskel Air Pressure Amplifier is designed to increase the pressure of incoming compressed air using a differential area piston assembly. It operates without air line lubrication and can stall at maximum pressure without energy consumption.
Key Features
  • Long seal life and easy maintenance.
  • No risk of heat, flame, or spark.
  • Wide range of models and options.
  • No air line lubrication required, eliminating oily exhaust.
  • Infinitely variable outlet pressure and flow capability.
  • Control of maximum pressure via inexpensive air drive pressure regulators.
Applications
These amplifiers are suitable for demanding industrial applications, offering a comprehensive range of models.
Sizing Air Amplifiers
Proper sizing involves considering outlet pressure, available air drive pressure and flow, supply pressure, and required flow. Application data such as duty cycle and high-pressure requirements are also crucial.
Operation Guidelines
Care is needed when sizing units for high outlet pressure applications due to moisture in compressed air. Dry gases like nitrogen can be used for higher pressure requirements. Cycling rate and operation in unloaded conditions should be managed to prevent excessive maintenance.
Cycle Rates
Maximum cycling rates are not recommended for continuous duty. The cycling speed can be controlled by adjusting the air drive volume. Multiple units can be used in parallel to meet required outlet flows.
Model Selection
Models vary in drive size, maximum air drive pressure, ratio, and maximum outlet pressure. Performance curves help in selecting the appropriate model based on required parameters.
Optional Modifications
Various modifications are available, including air controls, external pilots, and extreme service cycling options.
Standard Vertical Air Amplifier Systems
These systems provide amplified pressure and high flow, utilizing plant air to both supply and drive inlets, automatically stalling once the storage tank is filled.
Specifications
The document outlines specifications for various air pilot switches and air pressure amplifiers, including model numbers, pressure settings, and configurations.
Procedures
Instructions are provided for specifying normally closed and open air pilot switches, using specific codes before model numbers for proper configuration.
Norms and Standards
Optional factory-installed controls are available for all models, with variations depending on pressure and application requirements.
Recommendations
It is recommended to use external pilot air for cycling any model. Optional modifications for enhanced performance include electrical and mechanical stroke counters, and extreme service cycling modifications.
Key Data from Tables and Schematics
The document includes a table listing optional modifications with corresponding numbers and descriptions, and schematics detailing air inlet and outlet specifications.
Company Information
Haskel is part of Ingersoll Rand, focused on creating sustainable and efficient environments, with contact information provided for further inquiries.

Air Pressure Amplifiers-2

Haskel air pressure amplifiers offer the most comprehensive range in the industry combining simple principles of operation with rugged construction suitable for the most demanding industrial applications. Why use Haskel Air Amplifiers? An alternative to the purchase of a dedicated high pressure compressor, Haskel air amplifiers are compact, require no electrical or mechanical drive connections, are powered by the same air that they amplify, and can be mounted in any position. Key Features • Long seal life and easy maintainance • No heat, flame or spark risk. • Wide range of models, controls,...

Several factors are involved in the proper sizing of Haskel air amplifiers. Some involve the specific parameters of the application while some involve the application itself. Specific parameters include: • What is the outlet pressure required (Po)? • What is the minimum available air drive pressure (Pa)? • What is the available air drive flow (Qa)? • What is the supply pressure (Ps)? (In most cases, Pa = Ps) • What is the required flow (Q) at the outlet pressure? Application data includes: • What is the duty cycle? • What is the high pressure required for? Testing — what is the volume of the...

Drive Size Max Air Drive In (mm) PSIG (BAR) Ratio Max Inlet PSIG Max Outlet (BAR) PSIG (BAR) The curves are easily read by comparing the required outlet pressure with the (available) air drive/supply curve and meeting the corresponding outlet air flow. The total required air volume will be the sum of both the outlet flow and the air drive consumed to cycle the air amplifier (Q + Qa = total air volume required). In the example shown: Ps=100PSIG, Po=170PSIG, Q=30SCFM, Qa=50SCFM (total air volume required is 80SCFM). Performance Curves Using Performance Curves All Haskel air amplifiers are variable...

Standard Vertical Air Amplifier Systems A complete pneumatic system designed to provide amplified pressure and momentary high flow. Vertical receiver reduces footprint, saving floor space. Utilizes available plant air (up to 95 psi) to both the supply and drive inlets which automatically stalls once the storage tank has been filled to about double the supply pressure. The amplifier will sense any use of air from the tank, and resume operation again to stall at about 5 times supply pressure. The regulator on the tank output is provided to control the output pressure and flow, up to about (momentarily)...
