pH Measurements pH is the measurement of hydrogen ion concentration (H+) in water or soil. A pH of 7 is considered neutral. A pH below 7 is considered more acidic and a pH above 7 is considered more basic or alkaline. Water pH is important for plant management because it affects the solubility of fertilizers and the effectiveness of insecticides and fungicides. Below is a pH scale that ranges from 0 – 14 pH.
