The SCP18 Pen Colony Counter has a counting capacity of up to 99,999. The standard configuration includes the colony counter, a pen cartridge, and a battery.
Count without marking:
- Switch the device ON.
- Without removing the pen cap, press the pen point to register a count, which will display on the screen and be accompanied by a buzz.
- Release pressure and repeat the touch-press-release cycle until counting is complete.
- Remove the pen cap to record the count.
- Switch the device OFF.
- Remove the pen cap.
- Switch the device ON.
- Press the pen point to register a count, which will display on the screen, buzz, and mark the surface.
- Release pressure and repeat the touch-press-release cycle until counting is complete.
- Remove the pen cap to record the count.
- Switch the device OFF and replace the pen cap promptly to prevent drying.
- Apply only 6.5 ounces (184 grams) of pressure to avoid damaging the pen.
- The ink is water-based and non-permanent, removable from non-porous surfaces.
- The counter resets to zero when turned off.
Press the RESET button to reset the counter to zero.
- Remove the pen cap.
- Unscrew the tip by turning counterclockwise.
- Replace the exhausted cartridge with a new one.
- Securely reattach the tip and replace the pen cap.
- If the screen displays unstable numbers or no numbers, replace the battery.
- Remove the screw on the pocket clip and the back of the unit.
- Replace the exhausted battery with a new #392 Silver Oxide Battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Reassemble the unit and secure the screw.
