Product catalog summary
Introduction to Laser Alignment
Laser alignment is essential for optimizing machinery and process lines, enhancing efficiency, longevity, and reducing maintenance needs. Hamar Laser systems offer advantages such as quicker setup, multi-axis alignment, and real-time data updates over traditional methods.
Hamar’s Geometric Alignment Capabilities
  • Flatness: Used for tables, machine beds, and surface plates.
  • Squareness: Aligns columns to tables or rails and various axes.
  • Straightness: Measures machine beds, column travel, and beams.
  • Parallelism: Aligns master rails to slave rails and other structures.
Case Histories
  • Aircraft Assembly: The L-740 system leveled a tooling fixture in 10 minutes, outperforming laser trackers.
  • Adhesive Tape Manufacturing: The L-742 system enhanced alignment accuracy and reduced downtime, achieving a 3x ROI in 10 months.
  • Aluminum Mill: The L-743 system completed alignment in 36 hours, saving $250,000 in production losses.
Principles of Operation
Lasers emit a single wavelength in a straight line, detected by position sensing detectors (PSDs). Hamar’s patented process ensures ultra-flat, sweeping laser planes for measuring flatness, straightness, or squareness.
Comparison Matrix
Hamar Laser systems excel in speed, accuracy, and ease of use compared to traditional and other laser systems, featuring automatic data updates, multi-axis measurement, and wireless data delivery.
L-730 Series Features
  • Cost-effective for less stringent alignment needs.
  • Available in single, dual, and triple-plane versions.
  • Features include auto-rotating laser planes, high accuracy, and wireless communication.
L-740 Series Features
  • Designed for ultra-precise applications.
  • Simultaneously measures flatness, straightness, and squareness.
  • Includes advanced software for detailed alignment reports.
Conclusion
The L-730 and L-740 series provide solutions for various alignment needs, balancing cost and precision. The L-730 is suitable for general applications, while the L-740 is ideal for complex, ultra-precise tasks.

Laser Systems for Geometric Alignment L-730/740 Series-3

LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Lasers radiate in a single wavelength, in one direction and in a straight line, and are detected by position sensing detectors (PSDs). PSDs detect and convert the center of energy of the laser spot into a calibrated digital reading for output to a hand-held readout or computer interface. Continuously sweeping laser planes are produced by bending a laser beam precisely 90° using an optical pentaprism. Hamar Laser applies a patented correction process to the pentaprisms to produce ultra-flat, continuously sweeping...

Laser System Options Different applications require different levels of accuracy which is why we developed two basic families of laser alignment systems: L-730 Series. Ideal for precision-level work but where tolerances are not as critical (e.g. simple fabrication alignment checks, etc.) L-740 Series. Ultra-precise, used for more demanding “mission critical” tasks (e.g. aligning complex machine tool geometry, etc.) Each family of lasers is available in single, dual and triple-plane versions. Many of the features and accessories within the two families are the same. The key difference is the degree...
