External Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider

External Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider

External Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document describes the Type CS Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider by Haefely, a subsidiary of Hubbell Incorporated. This equipment is used for measuring various types of impulse and AC voltages, adhering to IEC 60060-2 (1994) standards.
Applications: The CS series is suitable for measuring full lightning impulse voltages, tail chopped impulse voltages, switching impulses, and AC voltages. It also serves as a basic load for impulse voltage generators.
Design: The high voltage part consists of oil-filled capacitors housed in glass fiber reinforced cylinders, with an external damping resistor. For voltages above 600 kV, a toroidal high voltage electrode ensures corona-free operation. The secondary unit includes a capacitor and a low inductance damping resistor in a coaxial design, easily disassembled and mounted on a four-arm base with castors.
Technical Data: The type designation includes characters CS and two figures indicating the maximum lightning impulse voltage in kV and capacitance in pF. The document provides a detailed table of specifications for various models, including rated impulse voltages, capacitance, damping resistance, and clearance requirements.
Dimensions & Weight: The document lists approximate dimensions, base frame size, net and gross weight, and shipping volume for each model.
Divider Ratio: The divider ratio is set to produce an output voltage of approximately 1400 V at rated lightning impulse voltage, minimizing electromagnetic interference. Custom ratios and attenuators are available upon request.
Step Response: The step response is adjusted to meet IEC 60060-2 (1994) requirements, ensuring accurate measurement performance.
Contact Information: The document provides contact details for Haefely Test AG in Switzerland, its Beijing office in China, and Hipotronics Inc. in the USA for sales and service inquiries.

External Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider-1

TYPE CS Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider APPLICATIONS The damped-capacitive impulse voltage dividers series CS can be used to measure full lightning impulse voltages, tail chopped impulse voltages, switching impulses and AC voltages. They meet all requirements of IEC 60060-2 (1994), in particular those with respect to measuring accuracy and step response. At the same time they can be used as a basic load for impulse voltage generators. DESIGN Depending on the voltage rating, the high voltage part of the dividers consists of 1, 2 or 3 oil-filled capacitors which are housed in glass fiber reinforced cylinders. The damping resistance is placed as an external resistor on top of the uppermost capacitor. Above 600 kV (included) rated lightning impulse voltage the dividers are equipped with a toroidal high voltage electrode to guarantee corona-free operation. The secondary unit consists of a capacitor and a damping resistor of low inductance both arranged in a coaxial design. The unit is fixed at the bottom of the divider and can easily be disassembled. The voltage divider is erected on a four-arm base equipped with castors. CS 800-670 TECHNICAL DATA The type designation consists of the characters CS and two figures, e.g. CS 400-1000 the first figure represents the max. lightning impulse voltage in kV, the latter the capacitance in pF. Type Rated impulse Rated impulse voltage S.I. voltage L.I. 250 / 2500 s 1.2 / 50 s kV Clearance to walls and ceiling * with adequate additional secondary part type SEK W. ** higher voltages possible only with additional top electrode a brand of Haefely is a subsidiary of Hubbell Incorporated. Haefely has a policy of continuous product improvement. Therefore we reserve the right to change design and specification without notice.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT (APPROX.) Type Shipping volume DIVIDER RATIO The divider ratio is designed to achieve an output voltage of approx. 1400 V at rated lightning impulse voltage. This value was chosen as the standard input voltage for impulse measuring systems from Haefely Test in order to reduce the influence of electromagnetic interferences. Upon request the dividers can be supplied with other ratios or with an attenuator to match the input voltage of other measuring devices. STEP RESPONSE The unit step response of the dividers is adjusted to meet the requirements of IEC 60060-2 (1994): Typical...
