General Datasheet PB1000

Product catalog summary
Introduction
PB1000 is a benzoxazine resin developed for lightweight composite structures with high mechanical properties and FST (Flame, Smoke, and Toxicity) requirements. It is suitable for use in aviation, aerospace, and rail industries, withstanding temperatures from -55°C to +80°C (-67°F to 176°F).
Product Information
The PB1000 prepreg is available in various formats. Key properties include a volatile-free curing system, fast curing time (10 minutes at 160ºC/320ºF), and long shelf life. It is made with E-glass or S-glass fiber materials and has a resin content of 40-50%.
Transport & Storage
Prepreg materials should be stored in a freezer to maximize their usable life. At -18°C (0°F), the reaction of resin and catalyst is minimized, but some reaction may still occur over time.
Qualifications / Fire Performance
PB1000 meets ABD 0031 and FAR 25.853 standards for FST and heat release. It has excellent fire performance with low flammability and smoke density.
Curing Conditions
The curing process involves press or vacuum-bag methods with a cure pressure of 0.7 – 4 bar (10 – 58 psi). The dwell temperature ranges from 140ºC to 160ºC, with varying dwell times.
Laminate Properties
Mechanical properties at room temperature include flexural strength of up to 750 MPa and flexural modulus of up to 29 GPa. At 80ºC, flexural strength is 550 MPa, and modulus is 22 GPa.
Burn Behaviour
PB1000 exhibits low burn length and after flame time, with a maximum specific optical smoke density of 19 Ds and a heat release rate of 30 kW.min/m².
