Product catalog summary
Product Description
Gurit offers a range of composite materials for the automotive industry, designed for both structural and cosmetic applications. These materials are suitable for various moulding techniques, including press, autoclave, and vacuum bagging, and can be used for interior and exterior components.
Press Moulding Technology
Press moulding is a prevalent method in the automotive industry for increasing production rates. Gurit provides prepreg-based products for press moulding, featuring advanced resin chemistry that allows for rapid curing in less than 15 minutes, suitable for both cosmetic and structural applications.
Cosmetic Carbon
SC 110 is a cosmetic grade prepreg with a high clarity epoxy resin, reducing scrap rates by up to 20%. It can be cured at temperatures as low as 80°C and is suitable for autoclave and press processing, offering a good out-life of up to 3 weeks at 21°C.
Structural Epoxy Prepreg
SE 200 is a high-strength epoxy system with a flexible cure range from 85°C to 200°C, ideal for rapid part manufacturing. It is used for structural components like lower tubs and bulkheads, achieving optimal thermal performance at higher cure temperatures.
High Tg Prepregs
SE 300 is designed for high-temperature applications, combining epoxy processing ease with polyimide stability and phenolic flame resistance. It achieves a Tg over 300°C, suitable for structures exposed to high temperatures.
Surface Films
Gurit's SF 95 and SF 80 surface films provide a smooth, pinhole-free layer, with SF 80FR offering additional fire protection. SF 95VH is available for areas exposed to abrasion and impact.
Syntactic Films
SY 110 is a filled resin system used as a core material for car body panels, offering the same stiffness as steel at a lower weight.
Accreditations
Gurit holds several accreditations, including BS EN ISO 9001:2008, BS EN ISO 14001:2004, BS OHSAS 18001:2007, and ISO/TS 16949.
Fastest Press Cure
SC 110 can be cured in 20 minutes at 150ºC and 6-12 BAR, suitable for white-wash-free press moulding.
HIHO Press Cure
SE 160 and SE 200 offer increased thermal performance with higher cure temperatures and pressures, with SE 200 achieving a Tg of 205°C in 6 minutes at 170ºC.
