SUBMERSIBLE ELECTRIC PUMPS

SUBMERSIBLE ELECTRIC PUMPS

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Gruppo Aturia specializes in the development of submersible electric pumps for various applications, including agriculture and municipal water distribution. The pumps are constructed using materials like Grey Cast Iron, Bronze, and Stainless Steel, each chosen for their specific resistance to different water types and conditions.

Materials and Development
Initially, Grey Cast Iron was used for its corrosion resistance in clean and deep water. In the 1970s, Bronze was introduced for brackish, volcanic, and sea waters due to its excellent corrosion resistance. More recently, stainless steel impellers have been developed for enhanced durability.

Production and Design
The pumps are designed for well diameters ranging from 6” to 25”. Key design features include:
  • Maximized efficiency and stable performance curves.
  • Limited wear and tear components for extended pump life.
  • Dynamically balanced impellers and protected shafts for easy disassembly.
  • Built-in non-return valves and low friction losses.
  • Availability in various materials to suit different applications.

Technical Specifications
Radial-flow pumps offer high heads with multiple stages, while mixed-flow pumps provide higher flows for the same well diameter. Specifications include:
  • Radial-flow: Up to 200 m³/h flow, 700 m head, 300 kW power.
  • Mixed-flow: Up to 800 m³/h flow, 330 m head, 400 kW power.
  • Solids content: 30 g/m³ for radial, 50 g/m³ for mixed-flow.

Submersible Motors
Gruppo Aturia's submersible motors are asynchronous, three-phase, and designed for durability and efficiency. Features include:
  • Copper wire winding with high dielectric properties.
  • Dynamically balanced squirrel cage rotor.
  • Stainless steel stator casing and water-lubricated bearings.
  • Rubber seals and sand-guard protection.
  • Capability to handle hot and hard water with suspended solids.

Selection Criteria
When selecting a submersible pumpset, consider:
  • Water characteristics: type, sand content, temperature, pH.
  • Well type: bored, artesian, tank, depth, and diameter.
  • Usage: discharge type and capacity requirements.
  • Total manometric head: dynamic water level, geodetic head, pipeline characteristics.
  • Power supply: phase, voltage, frequency, control panel, and starting system.

Installation Options
Various installation methods are available, including well installation, horizontal installation as a booster pump, and jacketed installation with a foot valve for water supply.

SUBMERSIBLE ELECTRIC PUMPS-2

SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS Gruppo Aturia started developing the Submersible Pump for pumping water in agriculture and for distribution of water in the municipalities. For these applications all the structural parts of the pumps are made of Grey Cast Iron. Grey Cast Iron is a perfect material for clean and deep water, with good resistance to water corrosion. Gruppo Aturia, in the 70s developed a series of Mixed-flow and Radial-flow pumps fully in Bronze, to extend the applications of the Submersible Pumps to brackish, volcanic and sea waters. Bronze material, easy to cast, has excellent resistance to corrosion...

REWINDABLE SUBMERSIBLE MOTORS In the Forties Gruppo Aturia started manufacturing electric submersible motors, worldwide patented. The present production is therefore the result of more than 60 years of research and development. CONSTRUCTION Asynchronous, three-phases Motor • Winding: it is made with copper wire coated by a thermoplastic insulating material with high dielectric properties, suitable for operating in water. • Rotor: squirrel cage type, dynamically balanced to guarantee regular operations without vibrations. • Stator: external casing in stainless steel. Stator slots are open type....

SELECTION How to select a submersible pumpset In order to correctly select the pump and the materials to be used, it is necessary to consider of the following fac ors: t Water characteristics : - Type of water (potable, salty, indu strial, thermal, etc.) - Sand contents in PPM [g/m³] - Temperature in °C - pH (acidity or alkanity value) Well type: - Type of well (bored, artesian, tank) - Depth in [m or ft]. - Internal diameter at point where pump will be installed. Use: - Free discharge at ground level - Discharge into an elevated tank - Discharge into a pressure tank - Sprinkler irrigation...
