Ecosorb ® C-945

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: Ecosorb® C-945 is a pharmaceutical-grade purification media designed for adsorption and filterability. It combines fine particles of activated carbon with an inert support to enhance purification processes, particularly in removing precious metal catalysts and contaminants from APIs and intermediates.
Typical Properties:
  • Appearance: Free-flowing powder
  • Color: Predominantly black with some white flecks
  • Components: Proprietary Polymer, Cellulose Fiber
  • pH: 5.0 – 7.0
  • Total Moisture: Less than 10%
  • Permeability: Greater than 0.5 gpm/sq ft at 20 psi
Chemical Compatibility: Ecosorb products should not be used with strong oxidizing agents like nitric acid. They are stable with most organic solvents and within a pH range of 1 – 13 for up to 24 hours.
Heat of Adsorption: Ecosorb products release heat energy when added to solvents, which can exceed the boiling point of certain solvents under specific conditions.
Shelf Life and Packaging: The product has a shelf life of one year from the date of manufacture and is packaged in 44 lb (20 kg) drums, with four drums per pallet.
Applications and Advantages: Ecosorb C-945 is effective in batch, precoat, or deep bed operations, offering reduced filtration times and increased adsorption efficiencies. It is particularly useful in precoat and single plate NEUTCHE filters, eliminating the need for carbon additions to reactors.

Ecosorb ® C-945-1

Filtration | Separation | Purification Ecosorb® C-945 is a pharmaceutical grade, multi-functional purification media that combines adsorption and filterability into a single product. Ecosorb products utilize a proprietary method to affix fine particles of activated carbon onto an inert support. By combining the superior kinetics of fine particles with excellent flow characteristics, purification processes run longer and deliver better quality effluents than with standard treatment methods. Ecosorb C-945 is recommended for the removal of precious metal catalyst, color and reaction contaminants from API’s and intermediates. It has been effective in removing palladium compounds from various synthetic reaction mixtures. C-945 can be effectively used in batch, precoat, or deep bed modes of operation. The low hydraulic pressure drop of C-945 makes it ideal for use in precoat and single plate NEUTCHE filters with bed depths from 2.5 to 50 cm. The distinct advantages with these types of operations are that they eliminate carbon additions to the reactor, thus simplifying clean up, and in some cases, they greatly increase adsorption efficiencies and purity. When used in batch operations, Ecosorb C-945 provides reduced filtration times for reaction mixtures with significant amounts of solids and higher viscosities. Typical Properties Chemical compatibility Free-flowing powder Predominantly black with some white flecks Functional Components: Powdered Activated Carbon Proprietary Polymer Cellulose Fiber Do not use Ecosorb products with strong oxidizing agents such as nitric acid Ecosorb Products are chemically stable with most organic solvents, including methanol, IPA, toluene, DCM, THF, and hexanes Ecosorb products are stable at pH ranges of 1 – 13 for the majority of applications up to 24 hours. Total Moisture: Heat of Adsorption: When added to both polar and nonpolar solvents, Ecosorb products, like many other adsorbents, will release heat energy. In deep bed and precoat applications temperatures can exceed the boiling point of certain solvents under some conditions. Contact Graver Technologies for more information.
