Polarized Random Incidence Microphone Sensitivity: 50 mV/Pa Freq resp: 3.15 Hz to 12.5 kHz Dynamic range: 14 dBA to 148 dB The 40AR is an IEC 61094 WS2P/D ½" externally polarized random-incidence microphone with rear-venting. The 40AR is a high-precision Type 1 condenser microphone made according to IEC 61094-4 requirements. It also fulfills the requirements of ANSI S1.4. Introduction The 40AR is an IEC 61094 WS2P/D ½" externally polarized random-incidence microphone with rear-venting. Read about the prepolarized equivalent [40AQ] The 40AR is a high-precision Type 1 condenser microphone made according to IEC 61094-4 requirements. It also fulfills the requirements of ANSI S1.4. This extremely robust and reliable microphone is ideal for random, diffuse, and reverberant sound fields. For a random-incidence microphone, it has a very wide frequency response ranging from3.15 Hz to 16 kHz. 40AR is individually factory-calibrated and delivered with a calibration chart stating its specific open-circuit sensitivity and pressure frequency response.

Page 2 of 5 Typical applications and use 40AR can be used in measurements of diffuse-fields, inside vehicles, and precision acoustics. 40AR is included in 46AR ½" Random Set. Compatibility The 40AR requires a standardized ½" or ¼" LEMO preamplifier and an input module that supports this technology with a 7-pin LEMO connector. For more information, see System Setup. System verification For daily verification and check of your measurement setup, we recommend using a calibrator like G.R.A.S. Sound Level Calibrator...

Page 5 of 5 Tradition Since the establishment in 1994, G.R.A.S. have been 100% dedicated to developing and manufacturing high-quality measurement microphones and related acoustic equipment. Founded by the Danish acoustics pioneer Gunnar Rasmussen who for more than 60 years has contributed to the world of sound and vibration with his unique ideas and designs. From the first reproducible 1” condenser measurement microphone that enabled quality measurements and instrumentation for acoustic calibration, Mr....
