Magnetic components for conveyor installations

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document serves as a detailed guide on magnetic conveyor systems, focusing on the use of magnetic force for efficient and safe transportation. It covers specifications, procedures, and recommendations for components like magnetic rails, rollers, and lid stack rollers.
Magnetic Rails: The document details both straight and sloping magnetic rails, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the correct distance from the magnetic roller to the rail. For sloping rails, the specified distances are 40 mm for a 400 mm diameter roller and 30 mm for a 220 mm diameter roller. It includes type codes and specifications for standard rails, such as cross-section dimensions, angles, lengths, and weights.
Magnetic Rollers: The document highlights the necessity of the correct combination of magnetic rails and rollers for optimal conveyor performance. A selection table for standard magnetic rollers is provided, detailing applications, maximum product sizes, and conveyance speeds. Rollers are available in various magnetic strengths and materials, including stainless steel for wet conditions.
Magnetic Elevators: An example application is given for a magnetic elevator designed to transport empty cans at a rate of 440 cans per minute. The document outlines the components needed and the method for calculating engine torque based on the force required to convey a single tin.
Magnetic Lid Stack Rollers: These rollers are used for stacking and unstacking products like lids and rings, especially in the canned-food industry. They are adjustable to product diameters and supplied in two halves for easy installation.
Complete Supply Installations: The document describes installations for supplying lids and bottoms to closing or filling machines, including components like round belt conveyors, distribution units, elevators, and buffer stores. These installations are adaptable for different product diameters and are extensively tested before delivery.
Complete Palletizing Installation: Designed for handling aerosols, these installations use a combination of magnetic systems and vacuum suction pads to efficiently manage aerosols and cardboard separators, with a capacity of 200 aerosols per minute.
Additional Magnetic Components: Other magnetic components mentioned include heavy magnetic rollers for steel pipes and fine polar magnetic rollers for grinding machines.
Specifications: The document discusses handling plates made from perforated steel, aluminium, or stainless steel with a thickness of up to 12 mm, noting that conversion for different products is unnecessary.
Magnetic Sheet Separators: Available in permanent and electromagnetic designs, these separators prevent oiled plates from sticking together during pick-up, avoiding damage in high-tech environments. They are used in plate processing industries and robotic production cells for welding compositions.
Magnetic Grab Head: Magnetism is used instead of vacuum techniques in robot arm grippers for handling pressed steel parts, blanks, and perforated steel plates.
Palletizing Magnets: These magnets facilitate the loading and unloading of pallets and traypack packagings, and are used for stacking and unstacking various filled and empty packagings. The lightweight Neoflux® palletizing magnet is suitable for integration into 'pick and place' units or robots.

2 1 Magnetic components Goudsmit magnet components can be delivered in various sizes and designs. For wet conditions stainless steel versions can be delivered with a magnetic system poured in PU resin. These are resistant to water and aggressive cleaning agents. Because the magnet components are custom produced under our own control, nearly any conceivable dimension can be delivered. (1) The Up-ender Turn Conveyor for can bodies is built up with standard magnet components. As far as endurance is concerned, Goudsmit’s magnet systems are not inferior to the camel. Without any energy supply they...

4 AA AB AC AD AE AF BA BB AG BC BD Magnetic rails, functions and designs The design of the magnetic rail depends on its position in the conveyor installation. Magnetic rails can perform various functions in this. The following table gives an explanation of these functions. A A : Straight through design Magnetic rail for straight product flow with constant magnetic force. Suitable for fitting in between other magnetic rails. A B A C : Decreasing design Magnetic rail with decreasing magnetic field for transfer from magnetic to nonmagnetic conveyance and vice versa. The decreasing magnetic field...

5 3 DA FB FA Magnetic forces can vary with changes in temperature. With temperatures above 50°C the attraction reduces. However, this reverts to the original value if the magnet cools down to room temperature. If the temperature of the magnets rises to above the so-called Curie point, the magnetic force can definitely be lost. As a rule of thumb it can be accepted that Ferrite magnetic components can be used up to 200°C and Neoflux® magnetic components to 80°C.
