Product catalog summary
Overview
The GLOBE Non-Lubricated Vane Air Motors are designed for versatile applications, offering maintenance-friendly, safe, and efficient operation. They are suitable for environments with explosion hazards and extreme conditions, such as high temperatures and moisture.
Specifications
The motors come with ATEX certification for safety in hazardous areas. They are compact, lightweight, and provide high starting torque and efficiency. They can operate in any position and are available with various mounting options and materials, including stainless steel for hygienic applications. Detailed specifications for models V1-NL to V12-NL include maximum power, torque, and speed.
Applications
These motors are ideal for light to medium-duty operations at higher shaft speeds, suitable for conveyor belts, packing machines, turntables, fans, mixing equipment, hoists, and winches.
Advantages
Key benefits include no need for lubrication, ensuring clean operation, high reliability, and long service life. The motors are instantly reversible and can be controlled over a wide speed range using simple flow control valves or pressure regulators.
Working Principle
The motors use a unique construction based on roller bearings, minimizing wear and extending the life of the vanes. This design ensures constant contact between the vanes and the motor body, preventing air leakage and maintaining power.
Performance Control
Speed, torque, and power can be controlled through throttling and pressure regulation. The motors can be configured for uni-directional or bi-directional operation using appropriate valves.
Accessories and Customization
GLOBE offers accessories like gearboxes, brakes, and silencers to enhance performance and efficiency. Custom solutions are available to meet specific application needs.
Motor Selection
Selection is based on operating speed, torque, and power requirements. Performance graphs assist in choosing the right motor, and GLOBE specialists are available for consultation.
Ordering Information
Motors can be ordered using a specific code that denotes type, mounting, material, and lubrication options. Custom configurations are available upon request.
Performance Charts
Performance charts illustrate air consumption, power, and torque against speed and pressure for different models, providing insights into efficiency and operational characteristics.
Design Considerations
Ensure the minimum start torque requirement is below the running torque, especially for applications like hoists. Operating below the starting torque ensures optimal performance.
Operational Guidelines
The lifetime of the motors depends on operational speed and air pressure. Continuous duty is recommended for non-lubricated operations. Air quality and filtration are critical, with a 5-micron filtration system recommended to prevent corrosion.
Temperature and ATEX Compliance
Maximum temperature limits for ATEX and non-ATEX applications range from -20°C to +80°C. The motors are reversible and come with a silencer.
Air Line Components
Essential components include FRL units, silencers, gearboxes, and controls, ensuring efficient operation. Gearboxes offer flexibility for various applications.
Service Kits
Service kits are available for all air motor types, facilitating efficient maintenance and repairs to prolong motor life.

The GLOBE Non-Lubricated Vane Air Motors The vane air motor is the most widely used design of air motor. They are available in a broad range of power and can operate in any position. Thanks to our unique and simple construction, this air motor is maintenancefriendly, easy to use and offers a long service life. Because of their design, these air motors are intrinsically safe, self-cooling and therefore very suitable for use in situations with explosion hazard and / or extreme conditions such as moisture and high temperatures. In addition, they are lighter and smaller than electric motors and when...

Advantages of a GLOBE Vane Air Motor Vane air motors offer a unique form of drive and incorporate advantages not found in other prime movers. They are instantly reversible when operated with a simple control valve. The speed and torque are variable and controlled with a simple and inexpensive flow control valve and/or pressure regulator. Vane air motors are suitable for running on natural sweet gas and other gasses and controllable over a wide speed range. With no shock start up, the life span of your equipment will improve. Lastly, the high variety of mounting interfaces makes them easy to install....

Working Principle No pins or springs The GLOBE construction is based on the principle of roller bearings. In this construction, the vanes are hold together by the outer ring (the motor body, shown as 1 in the figure below) and the inner ring (the ejection ring, shown as 2 in the figure below). Two ejection rings are placed centrically from the motor body on the front and back side of the rotor, keeping the vanes (3) in place. The rotor (4) is placed in a excentric position from the motor body. With the GLOBE construction, the vanes have circular tips so the ejection ring is kept perfectly in...

Power and torque The output power of a vane motor varies as a function of speed and torque. The relationship when the air supply is not externally regulated is shown in the graphs on the right. A typical characteristic of vane air motors is the variable starting torque for a given input pressure; a result of the varying vane position at start up. This variation is different for every type of vane air motor. For applications with starting load, the minimum starting torque produced should be used in calculations. For lower speed operation with a high torque requirement, a large variety of gearboxes...

Motor Selection To be able to select the right air motor for your application, you will need at least two of the three following variables: - Operating speed - Torque - Power This will establish the so called ‘working point‘ and will make selecting the right air motor easy. Once the working point has been established, the right air motor can be selected using the graphs included in the specifications of our vane air motors. Vane air motors have a wide operating range, so it is possible that multiple air motors fit your desired operating speed and torque. Where motors are not required to start...
