Introduction to Inductive Ignition Technology Gill ignition systems use inductive technology to ignite the air/fuel mixture. Inductive coils are generally more efficient than capacitor discharge coils as they provide longer spark duration, ensuring complete combustion, especially on lean burn and turbo charged engines. An inductive ignition coil provides just enough energy to cross the spark gap; the remaining energy from the ignition coil is used to maintain the spark.
