Product catalog summary
Overview: The Dried Blood Spot Autosampler (DBSA) is designed for the complete automation of sampling steps from DBSA cards, facilitating the analysis of matrix spots. It integrates with sample preparation and clean-up processes, such as Solid Phase Extraction (SPE), and is compatible with Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis. The system eliminates manual preparation steps like spot punching, elution, and centrifugation, enhancing reproducibility and throughput.
System Configuration: The DBSA is compatible with all common LC systems and is based on a GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS) with an xt-board. It can be expanded with the GERSTEL SPExos for clean-up and analyte concentration.
Automated DBS Steps: The system automates several steps including DBS card identification via barcode, spot integrity check using a camera, internal standard addition, sample desorption using a defined solvent flow, verification of desorption success, optional sample clean-up, and LC/MS analysis.
DBS Card Formats: Compatible with Whatman® FTA® DMPK cards and PerkinElmer-Bioanalysis-Card for 4 spots.
Desorption Area and Temperature: The desorption area radius is user-selectable at 2 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm, or 8 mm, with options for full or partial spot desorption. Solvent temperature ranges from ambient to 40-100°C.
Sample Capacity and Throughput: The system can hold up to 240 cards, processing 96 samples in 8 hours with an estimated cycle time of 5 minutes per sample.
Materials and Control: The flow path materials include SS316, PTFE, and PEEK. Control is via GERSTEL MAESTRO software, compatible with Agilent MassHunter®, SCIEX Analyst®, or Thermo Scientific™ Xcalibur™ software.
Communication and Power: The system includes RS 232 and LAN ports for computer connection, with a power supply of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz, and 450 VA.
Operating and Storage Conditions: Operating conditions are 10-40°C with 20-80% relative humidity, non-condensing, and storage conditions are -25-60°C with 85% relative humidity, non-condensing.
Dimensions and Weight: The dimensions are 12 × 33 × 54 cm, and the weight is 15 kg.
Caution: The autosampler is for research use only and not for diagnostic procedures.

Dried Blood Spot Autosampler DBSA Specifications Uses The Dried Blood Spot Autosampler DBSA offers complete automation of the sampling steps from DBSA cards, onto which matrix spots have been placed for analysis. DBS sampling can be combined with sample preparation and clean-up steps, such as SPE, and with LC/MS analysis. Time consuming manual sample preparation steps such as spot punching, elution and centrifugation can be eliminated. Sample desorption is performed in a highly reproducible manner, and the defined area of the matrix spot is completely desorbed by means of the patented Flow-Through Desorption (FTD™)† technology. DBSA automation also increases sample throughput since processing of extensive sample series can be performed overnight and over the weekend.
