CTS2

CTS2

Product catalog summary
Specifications
The CTS 2 is designed for cryogenic trapping of analytes in gas chromatography (GC) systems. It is compatible with Agilent® Technologies GC models 6890 and 7890 and can be used with capillary columns up to 1 mm in outer diameter. The system is part of the GERSTEL Multidimensional Column Switching System MCS and includes LN2 cooling options.

Uses
The CTS 2 is utilized for trapping analytes either before a single GC column or between the pre-column and the analytical column in a multidimensional GC system. It allows for the concentration of analytes from multiple injections onto the pre-column, which are then separated and detected in one run on the analytical column, enhancing detection limits.

System Configuration
The system includes temperature programming with two ramps, a maximum heating rate of 20 °C/s with controllers C505 or C506, and 10 °C/s with C200. The initial and hold temperatures range from -150 to 400 °C, with a maximum hold time of 650 minutes per temperature.

Control
The CTS 2 can be controlled using controllers C505, C506, or C200, and integrates with GERSTEL MAESTRO software and Agilent® Technologies ChemStation software. It requires only one method and sequence table for the complete system, including GC/MS.

Operating and Storage Conditions
Operating conditions are between 15 to 35 °C with a relative humidity of 50-60%, non-condensing, and a maximum altitude of 4615 m. Storage conditions range from -20 to 50 °C with similar humidity and altitude specifications.

Dimensions and Weight
The dimensions of the system are 85 × 35 mm, and it weighs 250 g.

Cryo Trap Enrichment System (CTE 2)
The CTE 2 includes a CTS 2 and a pneumatic module for venting the pre-column effluent and controlling the analytical column pneumatically.

CTS2-1

Cryo Trap System The CTS 2 is used for cryogenic trapping of analytes either before a single GC column or between the pre-column and the analytical column in a single GC oven multidimensional system. When trapping has been completed, analytes are released from the trap using a highly accurate temperature program ensur- ing the best possible introduction to the analytical column for optimal analyte separation and detection limits. Analytes can be concentrated from multiple injections onto the pre-column and subsequently separated and determined in one run on the ana- lytical column helping to achieve better limits of detection.
