Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Discharge Systems Safe Handling & Automated Discharge of “Big Bags” With Dust Control The use of FIBC “Big Bags” for handling granules and powders is commonplace in many process industries. The Gericke standard range of discharge stations are ergonomically designed to provide safe and efficient handling whilst reducing dust emissions. There are many different types of “Big Bag” available on the market and Gericke’s modular system can be adapted to cater for most bag sizes, loops and discharge chutes. Safe Handling is a major concern for plant operators and the Gericke system includes techniques which allow the bags to be loaded directly from Fork Trucks or from pallets using integral certified gantrys with electrically powered hoists. Hoist loaded discharge station Bag tensioning devices can be fitted to retain and retract loose internal liners to avoid blockages at the outlet. The further option of a pneumatically actuated outlet spout closing device can be added to allow a part emptied bag to be removed from the discharger or to allow the contents of a bag to be closed off from the atmosphere. Dust control is equally important and Gericke can offer a range of solutions using integral or remote extraction to meet the requirements of most installations.
