ABS Acrylnitrile butadiene Styrene copolymer has a good thermal and dimensional stability and high impact strength (also at low temperature). It is strong, shows a good scratch resistance and has a good dimensional stability. ABS can be used in temperatures ranging from -50 °C to +70 °C. Properties: • good mechanical strength and hardness • resists scratching • high surface strength • high impact strength • high dimensional stability • not weather resistant • caused resistance to acid and caustic solutions Applications: Parts with a high impact strength also in the cooling. PC Polycarbonate shows a high rigidity and an extreme impact strength. Also it has a high glass transition temperature and temperature resistance (approx. +130 °C). The operating temperature ranges from -60 °C to approx. 120 °C. Properties: • extremely high impact strength • high mechanical strength • high dimensional stability • high temperature resistance • good insulating properties • high resistance to radiation • medium chemical resistance • notch-sensitive and susceptible to stress crack formation • hydrolysis-sensitive Applications: Parts with a required high impact strength. PPE (PPO, Noryl®) Polyphenylenether belongs to the group of the amorphous materials and can be used in temperatures ranging from -50 °C to approx. +105 °C. PPE exhibits a high impact strength, a low water absorption, a very high dimensional stability and a very low tendency to creep. The electrical properties will not be influenced by the surrounding frequencies and therefore can be used in a lot of applications in electrical engineering. Properties: • high dimensional stability • low tendency to creep • high thermostability • high impact strength • good electrical characteristics over a wide frequency range • high resistance to hydrolysis • self-extinguishing • not resistant to some hydrocarbons Applications: Parts for electrical engineering and household utensils, shafts, gear wheels, parts in the hydrolysis. PPE-30GF The 30% glass fibre reinforced PPE has an improved dimensional stability, a very high stiffness and heat resistance that allows further uses.
