VARIVENT® Valves - The core component for matrix-piped process plants

Product catalog summary
Overview of VARIVENT® Valves
VARIVENT® valves are crucial in matrix-piped process plants for functions like shut-off, media convergence, and diversion. They are known for reliability, easy maintenance, and compliance with CIP/SIP standards, ensuring product quality and plant productivity.

Specifications and Features
  • Single seat shut-off and shuttle valves offer low maintenance costs and a modular structure for flexibility and efficiency.
  • Many valves are EHEDG certified and meet 3A standards.
  • Special sealing techniques with metallic stops ensure longer service life and reduced downtime.

Mixproof Valves
  • Used for mixproof separation of incompatible media at flow path intersections.
  • Equipped with double seals to prevent media intermixing in case of seal failure.
  • Types include R, D, B, and K, each with features like balancers to prevent pressure hammer effects.

Control and Actuation
  • The T.VIS® control module provides optical valve status indication, splash-water proof protection, and interactive feedback.
  • Various actuators handle different process pressures, featuring open lanterns for visual inspection and machine-rolled valve spindles for improved seal life.

Modular System and Flexibility
  • The VARIVENT® system's modular design allows easy modification and adaptation in existing plants without changing the plant concept.
  • Components include pneumatic actuators, control systems, and various valve inserts for single seat and mixproof valves.

T.VIS® Control System
  • Equipped with a communication module for configuration and monitoring via PDA or PC.
  • Features a LEFF® function for significant savings in cleaning media during valve operation.
  • Can be retrofitted on most GEA Tuchenhagen valve types.

Double-Seat Valve Characteristics
  • Independent shut-off with upper and lower valve housings.
  • Leakage safely excluded and visible at the open leakage outlet.
  • Isolation chamber cleaning is independent of valve position, ensuring reliable operation.

Technical Specifications
  • Material: Product contact parts are made of 1.4404 (AISI 316 L) with an internal surface finish of Ra ≤ 0.8 µm and a matt finish externally. Internals are also 1.4404 (AISI 316 L). Non-product contact parts are made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) with a matt finish.
  • Seals: Standard seals are made of EPDM (FDA approved), with an operating temperature of 135°C and a sterilizing temperature of 150°C for short durations. Optional materials include FKM and HNBR, both FDA approved, with other materials available upon request.
  • Operating Pressure: Maximum operating pressure is 10 bar, with higher pressures available upon request.
  • Control Air: Minimum 4 bar, maximum 8 bar.
Pipe Connection Sizes
  • Metric: As per DIN 11850, available in DN 10, 15, 25, 40, 50 with class 2 wall thickness, and DN 65, 80, 100, 125, 150 with class 2 wall thickness.
  • Inch OD: As per ISO 2037/BS 4825, Part 1, available in sizes 1", 1½", 2", 2½", 3" with 1.6 mm wall thickness, and 4" with 2.0 mm wall thickness.
  • Inch IPS: As per IPS, Schedule 5, available in sizes 2" with 2.0 mm wall thickness, 3" with 2.3 mm wall thickness, 4" with 2.3 mm wall thickness, and 6" with 2.7 mm wall thickness.

In the closed position the upper and thelower valve housings are each sealed by an independent valve diskTo open, the actuated lower valve disk(blue colour) is raised. The throttling gapbetween the lower valve disk and theseat ring minimises the switching leakage that is drained pressureless to the open through the valve stem. Afterwards, the isolation chamber between the upper double disk (green) and the lower valve disk is shut-off. The upper double disk is entrained bythe actuated lower valve disk into thevalves open position. The valve is now opened. In the closed position the upper and thelower...
