Product catalog summary
Overview
VARIVENT® Modulating Control Valves, Series A and S, are designed for pressure control, rating, or mixing of liquids at varying temperatures. Common applications include gassing, yeast pitching, wort aeration, and filling operations. These valves are equipped with special positioners for precise stroke length adjustments and can be optimized for different processes with multiple kvs-values per nominal width.
Design and Features
The valves feature linear or equal percentage control cones within fully cleanable, pocket-free VARIVENT® housings. Control cones and valve seats are interchangeable to suit different operating conditions. The open lantern design allows for visual inspection of stem seal leaks. The valves are constructed with clamp fittings for easy assembly and are suitable for wet room installations. Actuators are reversible, supporting both spring-to-open and spring-to-close operations.
Special Features
  • Positive shut-off with a V-ring seat seal made of EPDM or Viton.
  • Electro-pneumatic or pneumatic positioners for enhanced control accuracy.
  • Limit switches to detect open and/or closed valve positions.
Actuator Types
A series control valves come with a stainless steel multi-spring diaphragm actuator, while S series valves feature a plastic laminated pressed steel sheet diaphragm actuator, not available for shuttle or 3-stage valves.
Connection Fittings
  • Welded sockets
  • VARIVENT® flange and clamp connections
  • VARIVENT® IDF union
  • Fittings as per DIN 11851
  • Flanges as per DIN and ANSI
  • IDF male parts
Sizes
Available housing sizes and connection diameters include DIN 11850 (DN 25 to DN 125), Inch OD (1" to 4"), and Inch IPS Sch. 5 (2" to 6").
System Integration
The control valve is part of the VARIVENT® System, known for being made of stainless steel, fully cleanable, sterilizable, robust, easy to maintain, and suitable for all hygienic duties.
Valve Types
  • AL and SL: Single-seat modulating control valves
  • AWW: Flow blending control valve with symmetric or asymmetric trim
  • AWX: Flow distribution control valve with symmetric or asymmetric trim
  • 3-stage seat valve: Used for reducing high pressure differences in cavitation-free applications at low noise levels.
