Accurately assessing formation porosity and the existence of gas, along with basic cement evaluation and casing information can determine the commercial viability of a well. GE’s Sondex Wireline Open Hole Formation Evaluation system will provide definitive data concerning formation porosity, resistivity and gas using a range of tools designed to measure varying aspects of the formation. Combining these tools will provide a wider range of data such as the presence of hydrocarbons, the quality, porosity and permeability of reservoirs, water saturation of reservoirs and mechanical properties...

System Overview Comprehensive system at a glance Data Acquisition Logging Systems Surface Readout Logging data is transmitted to the surface for real-time analysis. Ultrawire* Bus All open hole formation logging tools operate on our unique digital telemetry Ultrawire* Bus and allow simultaneous operation with other Ultrawire* tools. Multi Array Sonic (MAS) MAS measures the formation porosity based on the travel time of acoustic energy (sound) through the formation. MASware* processing software is sonic enhancement package designed for the MAS tool. CNL measures the formation porosity based...

Multi Array Sonic The Multi Array Sonic (MAS) provides reliable broadband measurements of hard or soft rock environments, producing precise data in even the most challenging conditions. It is also capable of determining formation travel times in wells that have good casing adhesion to the cement. MAS measures the formation porosity based on the travel time of acoustic energy (sound) through the formation. The tool comprises two sections – one is capable of providing CBL/VDL information alone and the other consists of an array of acoustic receivers. Key Features • ffers proprietary (patent...

Multi Array Sonic Software Package (MASware*) MASware* processing software is an easy to use, interactive sonic enhancement package designed for the MAS tool. It processes guided semblance and instant frequency signals to produce highly accurate acoustic velocity. It uses a WindowsTM platform, is simple to use after minimal training, and provides accurate results even under less than ideal borehole conditions. MASware* algorithms compare matching signals from receiver to receiver within a specified time range. Data is then quickly analyzed with a high degree of precision. Amplitude and...

Compensated Neutron Log The Compensated Neutron Log tool (CNL) measures the formation porosity based on the presence of hydrogen when run in combination with other tools to deliver high quality data. This can be used in a cased hole environment to establish porosity through casing, enabling production to be planned with a greater degree of confidence, enhancing both productivity and efficiency. The CNL contains a neutron emitting source, which produces fast neutrons that bombard the formation. The neutrons are slowed (or thermalized) by collision, some of the slowed neutrons return to the...

Gamma Ray Tool The Gamma Ray Tool (GRT) measures the gamma level within the wellbore, from natural isotopes in the formation. The log is used to identify the formation and to correlate between logs establishing a reference point between past, present and future runs in different well areas. This ensures depth accuracy at all data points. The GRT can also assist in defining potential reservoir bearing areas within the well Key Features • Large crystal for better resolution • uns in combination with other open hole formation tools, R or by itself • Offers short tool length to ease rig-up....

Lithology Density Tool The Lithology Density Tool (LDT) measures the bulk density and photoelectric effect (Pe) of the formation. The Pe relates to the lithology whilst the bulk density relates to formation density. The LDT will measure porosity and lithology and in combination with other tools will also detect gas. A caliper log is also recorded. Fully adjusted for mudcake build-up, the LDT displays the entire energy spectrum at surface. This gives the operator a much greater ability to detect any problems that occur due to bad hole conditions. Key Features • Full energy spectrum displayed...

Induction Array Tool The Induction Array Tool (IAT) establishes formation resistivity, using real and quadrature signals induced in the formation. By using both signals for each coil combination, the tool compensates for skin effect providing a more accurate tool response. This means improved invasion profiling and precise water saturation calculations. The IAT provides the information at radial distances of 10in, 20in, 30in, 60in and 90in and depth resolutions of 2ft or 4ft giving a comprehensive resistivity profile. Key Features • 5 depths of investigation • 2ft and 4ft depth resolution...

Accessories Our range of accessories are designed to centralize logging tools in the pipe, minimizing wear and tear and achieving data accuracy. Knuckle and Offset Joints are designed for flexibility when deploying multiple tools in a single run. Some logging tools require centralization, while others require ecentralization. Centralizers and Ecentralizers maintain a tool’s position and minimize friction. Knuckle Joints add flexibility to the string and allow centralized and ecentralized tools to be run simultaneously. Adjustable Offset Joints are capable of a varying degree of offset...
