AM SERIES AIR MOTORS

AM SERIES AIR MOTORS

Product catalog summary
Introduction: This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the operation and maintenance of Gast Manufacturing's AM Series Air Motors, focusing on safety and efficiency. It includes essential safety warnings, installation guidelines, and maintenance procedures.
Specifications: The air motors are designed to operate under specific pressure limits: lubricated models at 100 psi (7 bar) and LL/NLP models at 80 psi (5.5 bar). They are suitable for both non-hazardous and hazardous environments, with temperature limits of 250ºF (121ºC) and 104ºF (40ºC) respectively.
Product Use Criteria: Motors must be protected from dirt and moisture, use only compressed air, and have air lines that match or exceed the inlet port size. They comply with Directive 2014/34/EU for explosive atmospheres.
Installation: Proper installation requires mounting the motor on a stable surface with shock mounts and ensuring correct airflow direction. A 5-micron filter and pressure regulator are recommended, along with lubrication for optimal performance.
Operation: Motors should be operated within recommended speeds and loads, using a pressure regulator to control speed and torque. Regular lubrication is necessary, and motors should not run at high speeds without load to avoid overheating.
Maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance are crucial. Lubrication can be manual or automatic, and filters should be checked after the first 500 hours of operation. Flushing with Gast #AH255B solvent is recommended to maintain vane performance.
Safety Warnings: The manual emphasizes following safety instructions to prevent injury or damage, including warnings about potential hazards and the need for protective equipment during installation and maintenance.
Disposal: Parts like shafts and bearings should be recycled as scrap metal, following current regulations.
General Information: The document also covers operating and maintenance instructions for spur and worm gear reducers, stressing the importance of using the correct lubricant and proper mounting of air motors.
Product Use Criteria for Gear Reducers: Worm gear reducers require specific mounting angles and may need a brake for safety. Some units may require a breather plug for proper operation.
Spur Gear Reducer Specifications: Specifications include speed range, gear reduction ratios, and maximum allowable loads, with lubrication guidelines to maintain proper oil levels.
Worm Gear Reducer Series A-F: Specifications detail air motor ratios and output shaft locations for various models.
Troubleshooting Guide: Common issues like low torque, low speed, and overheating are addressed with potential causes and remedies, such as inspecting for dirt, rust, and ensuring adequate air pressure.
Warranty: Gast products are warranted to be free from defects for 12 months under normal use, excluding certain components and misuse or neglect. Liability is limited to repair, replacement, or refund of the purchase price.
Contact Information: Contact details for Gast Manufacturing and its international offices are provided for service, parts, or repair inquiries.
