Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the new universal solid carbide deep hole drills from GARANT, specifically the 40×D and 50×D models, designed for high-performance machining applications.

Specifications
The drills are available in two lengths, 40×D and 50×D, and are made from solid carbide. They feature a spiral fluted design with four guide lands and internal cooling channels. The drills are coated with TiAlN for enhanced performance.

Performance Parameters
The document provides detailed performance parameters for various materials, including aluminum, plastics, cast iron, and different grades of steel. The cutting speed (vc) and feed rate (f) are specified for each material type.

Application and Usage
The drills are suitable for a wide range of materials, including those with high silicon content and various hardness levels. The document emphasizes the importance of using the correct pilot drill and provides detailed instructions for pilot hole drilling, penetration, deep hole drilling, and withdrawal.

Procedures
1. Pilot Hole Drilling: Use the appropriate pilot drill, ensuring the pilot hole is slightly larger than the deep hole drill diameter.
2. Penetration: Enter the pilot hole at low speed and feed rate, then gradually increase to the required cutting speed.
3. Deep Hole Drilling: Drill to the desired depth, with chip removal required for depths greater than 30×D.
4. Withdrawal: Withdraw the drill with reduced speed and a defined feed rate.

Recommendations
It is recommended to use GARANT deep hole drills with an application-oriented drilling cycle to ensure optimal performance.

Additional Information
The document notes that prices are valid until July 31, 2011, and reserves the right to correct errors and make changes. The document is protected by copyright, and reproduction requires written consent from Hoffmann GmbH Qualitätswerkzeuge.

Use GARANT deep hole drills 40×D and 50×D correctly ! 1. Pilot hole drilling Select the appropriate pilot drill No. 12 2650 (for steel) or No. 12 2308 (for alu) for the pilot hole (pilot hole has to be 0.02 mm larger than the subsequent deep hole drill ⌀). The minimum depth of the pilot hole should be min. 4×D for ⌀ ≤ 5 mm, otherwise min. 3×D. 2. Penetration of pilot hole with deep hole drill Penetration into the pilot hole with low speed (n = 300 rpm) and reduced feed rate (v f = 1000 mm/min) up to approx. 1–2 mm before the bottom of the hole. Then start to increase the speed (steplessly, if...
