Product catalog summary
System Specifications
  • Assembly: The system is designed for 9 ½”, 10”, 248 mm steel impeller shell assemblies.
  • Paste Filler Metal: Utilizes Fusion 2BY-1900WF-780, a fluxless copper (AWS BCu-1a) with a liquidus temperature of 1980°F/1082°C.
  • Production Rate: Capable of processing 360 assemblies per hour, with each assembly containing 31 blades across 3 rows.
  • Dimensions: The system measures 68”W x 60”D with a load height of 40”.
  • Utilities: Requires 480 VAC, 3 Phase electrical supply and compressed air at 80 PSI.
  • PLC: Controlled by an Allen Bradley 5/04 with a Panel View 1000 color operator interface.
  • Safety Features: Equipped with Lexan® perimeter guarding and an interlocked door for safety.

Operational Sequence
  1. Torque converter shells are fed into the pasting system via a driven feed conveyor.
  2. Two shells are metered into the paste area where spindle servo motors engage the shell center hole.
  3. The shells rotate while twelve dispenser guns apply 93 “dot” deposits to the joint areas, processing two complete shells every twenty seconds.
  4. Post-pasting, the shells exit onto a roller conveyor for further processing in an atmosphere brazing furnace.

Special Features
  • The paste is automatically pumped from 30-gallon containers into two, two-gallon capacity reservoirs, with levels maintained automatically.
  • Dispenser guns are mounted on quick-adjust mounting plates for flexibility.
  • A vision system with cylinders and rotary actuators allows for repositioning of paste nozzles to accommodate different part configurations and sizes.
  • The system supports quick changeover procedures to efficiently handle all part sizes.
