Induction Atmosphere Brazing

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Fusion Incorporated introduces a new induction atmosphere brazing machine as an alternative to furnace brazing for steel and stainless steel. Key benefits include the use of less expensive filler metals, clean joints without heat scale, fluxless brazing, fast cycle times, and the elimination of post-braze cleaning and outsourcing costs.

Machine Specifications
  • Construction: Welded steel frame with clear acrylic guarding on three sides and a 36” diameter aluminum tooling plate.
  • Dimensions: 60”W x 68”D x 38” load height; center carousel supports long-length parts.
  • Fixtures: Two assemblies per fixture with an enclosure that mates with an external, sealed guard during the heating and cooling cycle.
  • Indexer: Weiss Barrel Cam TC 220.
  • Paste Filler Metal: Fusion CBL-A330-87X (BCu1a) with a liquidus of 1980°F (1082°C), fluxless.
  • Heating: Four 3.5 kW CEIA units, two per assembly for preheat and final braze; induction coils are water-cooled by a 2-gallon recirculating chiller; pyrometers monitor brazing temperature.
  • Atmosphere: A 95% Nitrogen/5% Hydrogen blend displaces oxygen inside fixture enclosures.
  • Control: Omron PLC with Omron interface, with options for other specifications.
  • Utilities: Electrical 480/3/60; 24 VDC control voltage; compressed air at 5 CFM; Nitrogen/Hydrogen at 700 CFH.
  • Rate: Capable of processing 275 parts per hour, subject to application requirements.

8-Station Brazing Machine Sequence
  1. Station 1: Load/Unload Assembly (Two Assemblies Per Fixture)
  2. Station 2: Brazing Paste Filler Metal Applied
  3. Station 3: Induction-Preheat
  4. Station 4: Induction – Final Heat
  5. Station 5-8: Cooling

Premeasured deposits of copper paste filler metal are applied to joint areas of stainless steel assemblies. Two induction units heat parts in an enclosed fixture where a nitrogen/hydrogen mix displaces oxygen to ensure sound brazed joints.
