Product catalog summary
Introduction
The FSM filterscreen was developed to address specific challenges in sewage pre-treatment plants. Since its first installation in 1987, the design has evolved to meet increasing user demands, resulting in a high-performance product with low operating costs. Over 1500 units have been installed worldwide.

Applications
  • Municipal and Industrial Clarification Plants: Wastewater pre-treatment, fine screening, pumping stations, sludge screening, sea water treatment, rainwater overflow, and septage treatment.
  • Paper and Cellulose Industry: Wash water and unbarking installations.
  • Power Stations: Cooling and service water screening.
  • Industrial Applications: Textile, meat, fish, poultry processing, sugar industry, composting, fruit and vegetable processing, breweries, and animal processing.

Functional Principle
The filterscreen operates by allowing wastewater to flow through perforated stainless steel filter elements, retaining contaminants. A continuous filter belt is cleaned by a brush, assisted by jets proportional to the screenings load. Tines prevent the build-up of large matter, ensuring effective removal. The design maintains a constant distance between the brush and filter elements for efficient cleaning.

Performance and Efficiency
FSM screens with 6 mm holes filter out double the screenings compared to stage screens with the same gap size, achieving a retention figure of approximately 76%. This efficiency prevents clogging and reduces maintenance costs.

Features
  • Robust construction with no need for upstream coarse screening.
  • Handles grit and grease discharge effectively.
  • High cleaning effect with perforated filter elements.
  • Low maintenance costs and excellent cost/performance ratio.
  • Adaptable to changing conditions and suitable for outdoor use.
  • Hygienically encapsulated design.

Technical Specifications
  • Dimensions: Filter width 300 to 3000 mm, shaft center distance up to 11000 mm, filter element hole size 2 - 12 mm, water level difference up to 2000 mm, mounting angle 75°, 60°, or 50°.
  • Materials: Stainless steel frame and filter elements, wear-resistant steel chains, HDPE chain supports, and rotary brush segments of PP or nylon.

Functional principle: The FSM filterscreen was developed to deal with particular problems associated with sewage pre-treatment plant. Following successful trials, the first installation was equipped with this product in 1987. Parallel to the increasing demands of users, FSM introduced modifications to the basic design. These have resulted in an optimum product for the preliminary treatment of waste water -providing high performance coupled with low operating costs. Thus, cleaning by brushes has been continually developed so as to keep the demand for service water to a minimum. Over 1500 machines...
