PIMC - Powder InMould Coating Overview
PIMC (Powder InMould Coating) is a process that integrates powder coating into the pressing tool for SMC/BMC components, eliminating the need for subsequent coating. This method enhances product quality, reduces costs, and requires minimal technical retrofitting.

Application Examples
PIMC solutions are applicable in various sectors including kitchen sinks, shower trays, facades, lighting, sports equipment, and vehicle construction.

PIMC Procedure
The process involves spraying powder coating into the pressing mould, either manually or automatically. The coating hardens quickly, allowing immediate pressing of SMC/BMC. The cycle time is extended by approximately 30 seconds for the coating application. The PIMC process results in a highly resistant and homogeneous surface, eliminating typical fibre markings.

Surface Properties
Surfaces produced through PIMC exhibit excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, making them suitable for outdoor use.

PIMC Powder Coating
The coatings are based on unsaturated polyester resins, designed to have low viscosity upon heating and quickly gain hardness and resistance. This ensures optimal wetting and superior finished product properties.

Application Example: Electrical Junction
Traditionally, SMC junction boxes suffer from 'fibre blooming' due to UV exposure, requiring extensive coating processes. PIMC provides a homogeneous, coated surface directly after pressing, without fibre marking, and eliminates the need for additional separating agents. The system is environmentally friendly, solvent-free, and styrene-free.
