32.020/1 Sauter Components SVU: Air-flow transducer How energy efficiency is improved Enables the demand-led control of air volume in laboratory fume cupboards. Areas of application Accurate and long-term stable recording of air influx speeds to laboratory fume cupboards with a time constant of < 100 ms. Especially suitable for laboratory fume cupboards with horizontal or vertical sliding front doors. Features • Reliable recording of a change in the direction of flow • Integrated filter unit to prevent contamination of the sensor • Dynamic pressure sensor using thin-film design • Quick and easy installation in laboratory fume cupboards Technical description • Power supply 24 V~ • Measuring range 0 to1 Pa • Linearity 2% in relation to output signal Operation The temperature-dependent resistors, which are manufactured using thin-film technology, create radiant heat in their substrate. Because of the air flowing past, the radiant heat is shifted and creates a differential voltage at the resistors, which are connected so as to form a bridge. This enables the SVU 100 to detect any reversal in the direction of air flow, i.e. the output voltage stays at 0 V. Application SVU 100 F005 The output signal of the flow sensor is fed to the PI controller in the RXE 110 F002 monitoring unit at the actual-value input. The monitoring unit’s command signal w commands the return-air-volume controller for fume cupboards. The air volume is regulated within seconds in proportion to the amount that the fume cupboard’s sash is opened. This ensures that no toxic gases can escape from the fume cupboard. The output signal reacts linearly to the air speed. The control action is A, i.e. the output signal rises as the air speed increases.
