MeatScan™

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The FOSS MeatScan™ is a robust and user-friendly instrument designed for accurate fat analysis in raw meat and meat products using near-infrared transmission technology. It provides rapid results in less than 45 seconds and is suitable for use throughout the production process.

Key Features
  • Accurate and reliable meat analysis without the need for chemicals or consumables.
  • Results are available in less than 45 seconds, allowing for on-the-spot analysis.
  • Operable by any production staff, eliminating the need for external lab results.
  • Low maintenance with a unique internet connection facility for system updates.
  • Pre-calibrated with a global fat ANN calibration for immediate use.

Technology
The MeatScan™ utilizes Near Infrared Transmittance (NIT) technology, which provides higher accuracy by transmitting light through the sample rather than reflecting it off the surface. This method is particularly effective for inhomogeneous products.

Calibration
The device is equipped with an artificial neural network (ANN) calibration, which covers a wide range of meat products and reduces calibration costs. This robust calibration is based on approximately 20,000 spectra collected globally, ensuring excellent transferability between instruments.

MeatScan™-3

Technology The FoodScan technology is based on Near Infrared Transmittance, NIT, which is an advantage when measuring in-homogeneous products. The NIT-principle, where light is transmitted through the sample, is a major reason for the success of MeatScan™. The NIT-principle secures a higher accuracy of meat analysis, compared to methods, where the result is based on light reflected from the surface of the meat. The data (absorbencies at different wavelengths) generated by MeatScan are subjected to a mathematical function, a calibration model, in order to calculate the predicted value. FOSS ANN...
