Product catalog summary
Material Overview: Formlabs Flexible resin is designed for use with Form 1+ and Form 1 3D printers. It possesses elastomeric properties, making printed parts bendable and compressible. Thin parts are pliable, while thicker parts are resilient. The resin is suitable for applications requiring custom grips, stamps, gaskets, and wearable prototypes due to its non-shattering nature upon failure.
Mechanical Properties:
  • Tensile Strength: Ranges from 2.29 – 2.76 MPa (green) to 5.95 – 6.56 MPa (postcured), equivalent to 332 – 400 psi and 863 – 952 psi respectively, tested according to ASTM D412-06 (A).
  • Elongation at Failure: 60% (green) to 90% (postcured), tested according to ASTM D412-06 (A).
  • Compression Set: 0.40% (postcured), tested according to ASTM D395-03 (B).
  • Tear Strength: 3.50 – 4.73 kN/m (green) to 7.36 – 8.41 kN/m (postcured), equivalent to 20 – 27 lbf/in and 42 – 48 lbf/in respectively, tested according to ASTM D624-00.
  • Shore Hardness: 80 – 90 A, measured using a durometer.
Thermal Properties:
  • 5% Weight Loss: Occurs at 259 °C (green) to 266 °C (postcured), equivalent to 498 °F and 511 °F respectively, tested according to ASTM E1131-08.
Testing Notes:
  • Material properties can vary based on part geometry, print orientation, print settings, and temperature.
  • Data obtained from post-cured parts printed with 50 μm settings and exposed to 15 J/cm2 of UV light for 1 hour.
  • Tensile and tear testing conducted after 3+ hours at 23 °C using specific specimen types and cross head speeds.
  • Compression testing performed at 23 °C after aging for 22 hours.
  • Thermal testing conducted from ambient temperature to 900 °C at a ramp rate of 10 °C/minute.
