Product catalog summary
Introduction
The MAGNATEST® is a non-destructive testing instrument designed for evaluating metallic materials based on their magnetic and electrical properties using the magneto-inductive method. It is particularly effective for testing semi-finished products such as tubes, bars, wires, and billets.
Testing Methodology
The instrument operates by exposing the test part to a magnetic field, inducing eddy currents in electrically conductive materials. For ferromagnetic materials, magnetization occurs. The induced voltage in the receiver winding is influenced by the material's electrical conductivity and magnetic properties, which are affected by factors like hardness, alloy content, and grain structure. The method allows for selective observation of core and surface characteristics by adjusting excitation frequency and amplitude.
Multi-Frequency Testing
The MAGNATEST DH-HZP employs simultaneous multi-frequency testing, which enhances test reliability and speed compared to serial multi-frequency testing. This approach allows for a higher number of measured values along a test piece, improving the overall result. The excitation signal is optimized automatically, and the test speed is determined by the lowest frequency component.
Features
The MAGNATEST D-HZP/DH-HZP features a processor-controlled test system, single-coil absolute operating mode, constant excitation current, and high output current amplitude for sensitivity. It supports multi-frequency testing for reliability and simultaneous multi-frequency testing for speed. The system is easily integrated into testing lines and compatible with various FOERSTER flaw testers.
Integration and Software
The instrument can be integrated with FOERSTER's testing systems, allowing for centralized settings and summarized test result displays. It includes features like statistically calculated sorting gates, dynamic calibration mode, trend tracing, and a user-friendly interface with standard peripheral interfaces.
