Pallet system XT

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document provides an overview of the XT modular pallet conveyor system, designed for assembly and test systems in the automotive and electrical/electronics industries. Its modular design allows for easy engineering, quick configuration, and enhanced productivity with plug-and-play capabilities.
The Modular Concept
The XT system consists of six main module groups: conveyor, support, transfer, stop function, locating function, and lift-and-rotate modules. These modules are adaptable and compatible with FlexLink's single-strand pallet conveyor systems. Accessories and spare parts are available for each module.
System Overview
The XT conveyor system features a twin-track, flexible plastic chain pallet conveyor with a maximum length of 25 meters and a speed of up to 20 m/min. Standard pallet sizes range from 240x240 mm to 640x640 mm, with a maximum weight of 30 kg. The system is designed to minimize noise levels, typically below 65 dB(A).
Definition of Parameters
Key parameters include pallet dimensions, conveyor section lengths, motor type and speed, and options for standard or conductive versions. The system also offers queue stops and pallet damping options.
General Information
Support modules must be ordered separately. The system offers standard and conductive versions to address static electricity concerns. Energy consumption is minimized by keeping conveyor sections short, especially those separated by bends.
Technical Information
Chain tension calculations are crucial for determining the maximum load on conveyors. Specifications for drive units, chain strength, and friction coefficients are provided. Diagrams illustrate maximum chain tension relative to conveyor length and speed.
Conclusion
The XT modular pallet conveyor system is versatile and efficient, offering flexibility, ease of integration, and comprehensive support for configuration and maintenance.
Technical Specifications
Detailed specifications include friction coefficients, temperature limits, maximum conveyor lengths, and static electricity considerations. The coefficient of friction ranges from 0.1 to 0.35. Conveyors operate between -20°C and +60°C, with short-term tolerance up to +100°C. Maximum conveyor length is influenced by chain tension, speed, and drive unit capacity.
Static Electricity
Standard plastic materials have low electrical conductivity, leading to static electricity build-up. Measures to reduce static charges include maintaining a minimum relative humidity of 40% and installing static discharge wipers. Carbon-loaded versions of chains and slide rails are available for static-sensitive environments.
Conveyor Modules
Various XT conveyor modules, including Compact, Straight, and Transfer modules, are described. Each module type has specific configurations and operational capabilities, such as reversible operation and standalone use.
Support Modules
Support modules are available for single, parallel, and multi-level configurations, including beam support brackets and floor attachment brackets. The recommended maximum distance between support modules is 2 meters.
Transfer Modules
Transfer modules facilitate pallet movement between conveyors, including pneumatic transfer units and proximity sensors. They are designed for specific transfer scenarios with a maximum lifting payload of 30 kg at 6 bar.
Configuration Examples
Examples guide the selection and setup of conveyor systems based on specific application needs, detailing parameters such as pallet width, length, motor speed, and mounting options.
Function Modules
  • Locating Function Modules: Designed to stop and locate pallets with high precision using lift units.
  • Stop Function Modules: Stops pallets with a repeatability of ±1 mm, configurable for different damping levels.
  • Lift-and-Locate Modules: Used to position products at specific heights, with various mounting options.

Pallet system XT-1

Modular pallet conveyor system XT System description Module concept The XT conveyor is a twin-track, flexible plastic chain pallet conveyor. The system is especially well suited for manual and automatic assembly and test systems in the automotive and electrical/electronics industries. The modular concept allows simplified engineering and ordering, as well as fast configuration together with plug and play capabilities for improved productivity. The standard modules can be split into six groups – conveyors, transfers, stops, locates, lift-and-rotates and supports. Each module is quickly adaptable and reusable for ELV future demands and can easily be integrated with FlexLink’s large range of single strand pallet conveyor sys- CTL tems. Pallets Examples of application areas Manual and automatic assembly and test systems in the automotive and electrical/electronics industries. Examples: gearboxes, computers, sewing machines, mobile phones, automotive seat guiderails, eyeglasses, injection-moulded parts, fishing reels, car instrument kits FlexLink´s standard chains and integrated guide rails systems allow for accumulation through the entire system, including bends, as well as easy and straightforward integration of stops, locate stations as well as transfer units with a minimum of controls.

Introduction (continued) System data Typical noise levels 25 m maximum conveyor length 20 m/min maximum conveyor speed Standard pallet sizes from 240×240 mm up to 640×640 mm, including rectangular sizes 30 kg maximum pallet weight (8 kg pallet weight/100 mm conveyor During normal conditions a noise level below 65 dB(A) can be obtained in an XT conveyor system, including transfers, stops, etc. However, be aware that the pneumatic components (valves, etc.) very much affect the noise level if they are not enclosed correctly. Also, throttle valves must be adjusted correctly at transfers, stops, etc....

System overview Typical XT conveyor layout The figure below shows a typical conveyor layout, built by connecting various XT modules. Note that support modules are not shown in this overview. For each conveyorand transfer module, a support module has to be ordered separately, see page 343, “XT support modules”. Serial workstation The figure to the left shows a modular breakdown of the XT layout shown above. Pallet flow in a highway Characteristic for a highway is a continuous circulation of pallets, waiting for calling from a transfer operation into a parallel flow, for instance a workstation....

Pallet width (PW) × pallet length (PL) Slide rail configuration Pallet width and pallet length. PL is basically the pallet dimension in the direction of pallet movement in the main flow. In some modules the pallet moves “sideways”, for example when transferred from one line to another. See the module descriptions for PL/PW definitions in each specific case. The figure below shows an example. The following figures show the four different slide rail options applicable to XT conveyors. G0: No pallet side guides G2: Pallet side guides G4: No pallet side guides, protection of return chain The length...

Technical information (continued) Friction between chain and pallet In most cases, the coefficient of friction for contact between plain chain and pallet is between 0,1 and 0,35. Temperature limits A conveyor can operate continuously at environment temperatures from –20 °C to +60 °C. Temperatures up to +100 °C can be tolerated for short periods (cleaning, rinsing). Maximum conveyor length The maximum length of a conveyor depends on the tension in the chain, the speed, and the capacity of the drive unit. It is important to calculate and compare the maximum chain tension and the capacity of the...
