THE STYLE HOT is a spiral wound gasket utilizing a combination of fillers to give superior sealing ability at extremely high temper- ature applications. Originally developed to accommodate nitric acid applications at elevated temperatures, the H.O.T. graphite/ceram- ic spiral wound gaskets have been replacing ceramic filed spiral wound gaskets which are being phased out due to inadequate seal- ing performance. Further research into materials yielded the use of mica in place of ceramic as an even higher temperature, stronger barrier to graphite oxidation.
