FLEXICARB RGS 4 FLEXITALLIC LIMITED PO BOX 3 MARSH WORKS DEWSBURY ROAD CLECKHEATON WEST YORKSHIRE BD19 5BT TEL: 01274 851273 FAX: 01274 851386 PRODUCT REFERENCE: FLEXICARB RGS 4 DESCRIPTION: RGS 4 is a high purity graphite laminate reinforced with a flat stainless steel core. SERVICE: FLEXICARB RGS 4 is recommended for high temperature, high pressure sealing applications. The inclusion of the steel reinforcing core gives rise to a robust sheet with excellent handling characteristics. RGS 4 can be used to seal a wide range of media, with the exception of strong oxidising agents, at extremes of temperature and pressure. The soft conformable nature of the graphite facing material makes RGS 4 suitable for sealing between worn or pitted flanges. Typical industries where RGS 4 is used include power generation and petrochemical. Maximum recommended temperature : Oxidising media 370OC (700OF) Inert or reducing media 700oC (1290oF) Maximum recommended pressure : 15 MPa (150 bar; 2200 psi) Note : For applications sealing inert or reducing media, at temperatures in excess of 370OC, attention must be given to the possibility of oxidative attack on the gasket from the external environment. Use with strong oxidising agents should be avoided. For long term continuous use in oxidising environments at temperatures in excess of 370OC please consult Flexitallic Applications Engineering Department. CONSTRUCTION : Facing material : 98 % pure graphite foil. Reinforcement : 0.05 mm thick flat stainless steel (AISI 316 grade). HEALTH AND SAFETY Because of the processes which take place during manufacture, the product is believed to present no health and safety hazard and, under normal handling and use it is unlikely that the product will give rise to significant levels of exposure to constituent materials.
