DeltaV Controller Firewall

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The DeltaV™ Controller Firewall is a hardware device designed to enhance cybersecurity within DeltaV networks by limiting communication traffic and protecting against cyber-attacks such as message flooding and denial-of-service attacks. It is installed between controllers and workstations to provide an additional security layer.
Benefits
The firewall offers economical protection against automated cyber-attacks, is easy to deploy with pre-configured settings, and can be added at any time. It supports Achilles certification requirements for DeltaV controllers and is a fully supported solution by Emerson Process Management.
Product Description
The firewall is a 24-volt DIN rail-mounted device configured to support DeltaV communications protocols. It can be installed in a one-to-one configuration or with a multi-port switch to support up to eight controllers. The plug-and-play installation requires no additional programming.
Extended Security Functions
While the firewall is preconfigured, optional security adjustments can be made based on risk assessments. Management is minimal, with no IP address or web interface by default, but extended features can be enabled if desired.
Reliable Hardware
Manufactured by Hirschmann, the firewall is part of the DeltaV third-party alliance program, ensuring industrial-grade reliability.
DeltaV SIS Intrusion Protection Device (IPD)
A special version of the firewall provides additional protection for DeltaV SIS Logic Solvers, preventing unauthorized configuration changes.
Configuration and Management
The firewall requires no user configuration but offers extended features that can be customized using Emerson documentation. It supports easy device replacement with the Hirschmann Auto Configuration Adaptor.
Supported Network Architecture
The firewall should be implemented as described in DeltaV documentation, ideally close to controllers in secured environments to prevent unauthorized network access.
Performance
A single firewall supports up to eight controllers, with recommendations for secure installation practices to maximize protection.
System Compatibility
The firewall supports any language system, with instructions in English, and is compatible with DeltaV Operate for PROVOX and RS3.
Optional Solution
The firewall is optional and should be deployed based on risk assessments. It supplements existing security measures and is not required for Achilles certification in DeltaV v12.3 and newer systems.
Installation Information
The firewall is mounted on a DIN rail near controllers, supporting various configurations for redundant controllers and Charm I/O Cards.
Product Hardware Details
The firewall features multiple ports, relay outputs, and digital inputs, with specifications for fiber optic connections and security features like stateful inspection and storm protection.
Firewall Functionality
The firewall is designed to drop and log packets with identical source and destination IP addresses and ports, enhancing network security.
Intrusion Protection
The Intrusion Protection Device (IPD) blocks unauthorized changes to the DeltaV Safety Logic Solver configuration. It can be temporarily disabled for 30 minutes via a specific button sequence or an optional physical bypass switch.
Power Requirements
The operating voltage is 24 V DC with a tolerance of -25% to +30%. Various models have power consumption ranging from 5W to 6W.
Service and Configuration
Diagnostic LEDs and a signaling contact are available. Configuration can be done via CLI, web interface, or auto configuration adapter, though not required for basic operation.
Redundancy
Supports DeltaV network redundancy but not Hirschmann configurations. A redundant 24 V power supply is available.
Ambient Conditions
Operating temperature ranges from 0°C to +60°C for standard models and -40°C to +70°C for extended models. Storage temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. Relative humidity is 10% to 95% non-condensing.
Mechanical Construction
The device is IP20 rated, with dimensions of 60.6 x 145.3 x 128.2 mm and a weight of 660 g. It is designed for DIN Rail 35 mm mounting.
Approvals
The device complies with various international standards, including CE, CSA, C-Tick, EAC, and others for safety and electromagnetic compatibility.
Controller and Workstation Usage
Supports DeltaV v8.4 or higher, with up to 8 controllers or redundant pairs and 16 CHARM I/O Cards per controller. More firewalls are needed for additional controllers.
Ordering Information
Various models are available, differentiated by temperature range, port type, and ATEX compliance.

DeltaV Controller Firewall-1

DeltaV Distributed Control System Product Data Sheet November 2015 DeltaV™ Controller Firewall Provides an additional level of economical cyber-protection to your DeltaV™ controllers. Easy, out-of-the-box protection, in a plug-and- play solution. Layered implementation that can be added to your system at any time. Purpose-built, fully supported DeltaV security solution. Introduction Network firewalls are used to limit communications traffic between networks so that only permitted messages and a defined level of traffic are allowed to pass between the networks. The DeltaVTM Controller Firewall is a hardware device that is installed within a DeltaV network between the controllers and workstations. The DeltaV Controller Firewall provides an additional layer of cybersecurity protection that can be installed within the DeltaV Control network. It functions to provide additional protection for controllers installed on the secure side of the firewall against message flooding and denialof-service attacks originating from the workstation side of the firewall. Benefits Even more protection. If your security risk assessment determines that additional protection is required to prevent automated cyber-attacks on your system, the controller firewall can be economically installed on your system to mitigate these threats. Easy to deploy. The firewall is pre-configured to match the required DeltaV communication rules. Simply install the hardware, hook up the network cables and the protection is in place—right out of the box. The DeltaV™ Controller Firewall provides additional security protection from for your DeltaV controllers. Security layer can be added at any time. The controller firewall can be installed during your initial system implementation or at any later time when you decide you need additional protection for your controllers. It is highly recommended to be installed in Electronic Marshalling based systems. Meet customer cybersecurity requirements for AchillesTM certifications. The controller firewall is part of the solution to provide Achilles Certified DeltaV controllers for customers who require this optional security certification for their controllers. (On DeltaV v12 and newer systems the DeltaV Controller Firewall is no longer required for Achilles certifications). The DeltaV controller firewall is a fully supported solution. The firewall is “purpose-built” and is specifically configured and tested to function in a DeltaV network. It is set up to serve the very specific purpose of protecting a DeltaV controller from cyber-attacks and to provide an A

DeltaV Controller Firewall The controller firewall is also available in a special version that provides additional configuration protection for DeltaV SIS Logic Solvers. This version of the firewall will block the “SIS Unlock” message generated by the ProfessionalPLUS Station from reaching the Logic Solver. Unlocking the Logic Solver can be done by from the front panel pushbutton by using a specific button sequence, by using the discrete input on the front panel of the firewall or by physically bypassing the firewall so the unlock message can reach the Logic Solver. The front panel button unlock...
