Overview of Type 299HS Regulator
The Type 299HS regulator features a fast-acting slam-shut valve for overpressure and underpressure protection. It operates independently of the main regulator and inlet pressure variations.

Slam-Shut Mechanism
The slam-shut disk is held open by a small ball. If pressure changes reach the setpoint, the diaphragm moves, releasing the ball and allowing the spring to close the disk, shutting off gas flow.

Underpressure Shutoff (UPSO)
UPSO triggers when downstream pressure drops below the setpoint. Additional protections may be needed if pressure does not drop sufficiently.

Overpressure Protection
The Type 299H regulator requires downstream overpressure protection if inlet pressure exceeds outlet ratings. Regular inspections are recommended.

Monitoring Systems
Monitoring regulators act as overpressure protection devices, taking control if the working regulator fails.
