Socket welding instructions Hot socket welding involves fusing the pipe in the fitting’s socket. The joint is made by simultaneously fusing the male and female surfaces by means of special manual or automatic heating devices. These devices, in their simplest form, are composed of a heating plate on which a series of heating bushes are mounted.
