Product catalog summary
Overview: The document describes the M5A/7 continuous bi-rotary head, highlighting its compact size, making it suitable for small to medium-sized machines for high-speed milling. It is designed for 5-axis machining, including undercut machining, with continuous control of the axes in RTCP.
Specifications: The M5A/7 head features brushless motors driving the B and C axes, with transducers mounted directly on the axes for maximum accuracy. The kinematic chains use a crown gear-worm screw system with variable pitch to compensate for backlash. The spindle rotates up to 32,000 rpm, delivering 7.5 kW of power, and uses ceramic ball bearings. The motor-cartridge housing is temperature-controlled via continuous coolant recirculation. The head includes a minimum tool lubrication device.
Technical Data:
  • B axis travel: ±110°
  • C axis travel: ±360°
  • Max. B and C axis rotation speed: 5000 °/min
  • Max. B and C axis acceleration: 1000 °/s²
  • Positioning accuracy/repeatability: 5/4 arc-sec (VDI/DGQ 3441 and ISO 230-2 standards)
  • Maximum power (S6 - 60% - 2 min): 7.5 kW
  • Spindle rotation speed: 3200 ÷ 32000 rpm
  • Constant power range: 16000 ÷ 32000 rpm
  • Spindle external dimensions: 135 x 135 mm
  • Front bearing internal diameter: 45 mm
  • Spindle lubrication: minimum air/oil
  • Toolholder attachment: HSK40E
  • Toolholder release: pneumatic piston
  • Weight: 150 kg
Contact Information: The document provides contact details for FIDIA offices in Germany, France, Spain, Russia, USA, Brazil, China, and Italy.
Certifications: The system is certified under UNI EN ISO 9001:2000.

testa_M5A7-1

M5A/7 Continuous bi-rotary head The main feature of this continuous bi-rotary head is its reduced size making it particularly suitable for mounting on small or medium-sized machines for high-speed milling. Continuous control of the axes in RTCP makes the M5A head ideal for 5 axis machining, including undercut machining. To obtain the maximum possible accuracy, the B and C axes are both driven by brushless motors and the transducers are mounted directly on the axes. In addition, the axis kinematic chains have a crown gear - worm screw system with a variable pitch for compensation of backlash. The M5A/7 head is equipped with a spindle that rotates up to 32000 1/min and develops power of 7.5 kW. The head uses ceramic ball bearings and the housing incorporating the motor-cartridge is maintained at a controlled temperature by means of the continuous re-circulation of coolant. The minimum tool lubrication device is incorporated in the head.
