Product catalog summary
Overview of HS664 Milling Systems
The HS664 series includes 3, 4, and 5-axis milling centers with X, Y, and Z travel dimensions of 600 mm, 560 mm, and 400 mm, respectively. The HS664 V model features a fixed table, while the HS664 RT model includes an integrated tilting worktable. Key features include high acceleration, high spindle rotation speed, advanced Fidia C1 numerical control algorithms, and a high-rigidity cast iron bed. These machines are versatile, suitable for machining hard steels, light alloys, and graphite.

Design and Functionality
The HS664 design focuses on swarf containment and disposal, making it suitable for mass production with heavy stock removal. The machine's styling allows optimal viewing and ease of loading with a bridge crane. Various spindle options are available, ranging from 24,000 to 36,000 rpm, catering to advanced market requirements. The machines can mill complex 3D surfaces using CAM systems or digitized data.

Technical Solutions
All linear movements are performed by the spindle head, ensuring stability and visibility. The cast iron bed does not require dedicated foundations, and the steel moving structures provide an optimal mass-rigidity ratio. Roller bearings on linear axes allow high feeds and low friction, while digital axis drives optimize dynamic behavior and accuracy. The machine includes automatic grease lubrication and optical scale transducers for feedback.

Spindle and Version Details
Spindles offer up to 25.8 kW power and 36,000 rpm speed, with ceramic ball bearings and coolant circulation. The HS664 V version has a fixed worktable with T slots, while the HS664 RT version features an integrated rototilting worktable for complex 5-axis machining.

Additional Features
The machine includes an automatic tool changer, tool presetting options, and a swarf conveyor. A dust suction unit is essential for machining graphite or resin. An automatic workpiece magazine extends autonomy, supporting unmanned operations.

Technical Data
Linear axis travel: X 600 mm, Y 560 mm, Z 400 mm. Linear axis feed: 30 m/min. Positioning accuracy: ±0.003 mm. Tool magazine positions: 20-42. Weight: 6100 kg in standard configuration.

Numerical Control
The Fidia C1 numerical control utilizes Pentium 4 and Motorola RISC, with a 12.1” TFT video and Windows XP Professional OS. It supports HI-MILL® 3D CAM and ISOGRAPH 2 ½ D CAD/CAM for tool path programming. Features include dynamic Look-Ahead, Active Tuning, and Jerk Control for optimized performance.

All linear movements are performed by the spindle head. The fixed bed structure ensures: stability, independently of the weight of the workpiece being machined; optimum visibility of the part being machined; wide range of application; production of overall machine tool dimensions. The cast iron bed does not require dedicated foundations, while the moving structures, made of steel, provide the best mass-rigidity ratio in order to guarantee high dynamic performance. > Roller bearings on linear axis allow: high feeds low friction, reducing machine structure heating no backlash. The axis drives use...

Spindles > In order to provide the best solution for specific requirements, spindles with a power of up to 25.8 kW and a maximum speed of 36,000 1/min are available. All spindles have ceramic ball bearings and are refrigerated by the circulation of coolant at a controlled temperature. The vectorial control method used for the electrospindle drives ensures optimum behaviour, even at low rpm. V Version > The HS664 V version has a fixed worktable quite larger than the work area. The table is made of cast iron with T slots for easy clamping of the workpiece, centering and automatic locking systems;...

A standard chain housing 20 tools is mounted in the X axis slide and pro-tected from swarf and coolant. The tool change can be extended up to 42 positions. The work space has been designed to allow for full containment of the swarf and ease of disposal. The cover can easily be opened to enable the workpiece and equipment to be loaded from above. Automatic presetting of the tool length on the machine simplifies tooling procedures for new machining operations or when replacing worn tools. Indispensable for unmanned machining operations, tool presetting is avail- able in a digital probe version...
