Overview: The document is a detailed guide on deva.bm® sliding bearings, which are maintenance-free and self-lubricating. These bearings are designed for harsh conditions, offering high reliability and long-term performance without lubrication.
Material Properties: deva.bm® is a composite material with a steel backing and a sliding layer of deva.metal®. It features high load-bearing capacity, low friction, and is suitable for environments like dusty, corrosive, and radioactive conditions, operating effectively between -190°C and +280°C.
Material Structure: The sliding layer includes solid lubricants such as graphite or PTFE, which can be oil-impregnated for better performance. It has a steel backing and a bronze matrix with solid lubricant indentations.
Materials: The document details the mechanical and physical properties of various alloys used in deva.bm bearings and their chemical resistance to different substances.
Mating Materials: Ideal mating materials should have a hardness of at least 180 HB. Guidelines on surface roughness and suitable materials for standard, corrosive, and seawater applications are provided.
Design and Installation: Covers sliding surface options like plain surfaces, cleaning grooves, and lubrication indentations. Installation guidelines stress proper fitting techniques, such as press-fitting and supercooling for larger bearings.
Special Design Solutions: Illustrates design solutions, including radial and axial segments with features like cleaning grooves and lubrication indentations.
Load Cases: Defines different load cases considering fatigue influences under dynamic pressure, with specific static and dynamic load limits.
Installation Procedures: Provides detailed instructions for installing cylindrical bearings, including press-fitting and supercooling techniques, and safety precautions for handling substances like dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
Specifications: Outlines the use of sliding plates with countersunk flat head screws according to DIN EN ISO standards and specifies adhesives like Loctite for securing screws, with attention to temperature limits.
Dimensions and Tolerances: Tables provide dimensions for deva.bm cylindrical bearings and sliding plates, including bore tolerance, bearing width, and wall thickness, emphasizing correct sizing to withstand stresses and shearing forces.
Product Information: Describes DEVA products like deva.glide, deva.tex, deva.metal, and deva.bm, highlighting their maintenance-free, self-lubricating properties, and suitability for high-load, corrosive, and marine environments.
Recommendations and Best Practices: Includes securing deva.bm with a pressure plate during installation and alternating tightening to prevent damage. Advises on materials and configurations based on application requirements for optimal performance and longevity.
Disclaimer: Notes that the information is a guide and actual performance may vary based on conditions. Guarantees are only provided after written agreement on test procedures and parameters.

4 Mating material The deva.bm® bearing materials can be used only with mating materials demonstrating a hardness of at least 180 HB. Where lubricant is addition lly introduced into a the sliding contact, hardness values of >130HB are also permissible. In abrasive environments, a surface hardened to 35 HRC / 45 HRC should be used. The ideal mating surface roughness for deva.bm is Ra = 0.2 to 0.8 µm, produced by grinding. Rougher surfaces are also acceptable, depending on the operating conditions. To obtain the right surface roughness, it is equally possible to use bushings of a suitable hardness....

deva.bm ® maintenance-free 5 Fits deva.bm is pressed into the housing with an interference fit (using a screw press, hydraulic press or press-fit mandrel). Tapping or driving into place is not permissible. The standard housing bore is H7. Mean roughness of housing: Ra = 3.2 µm The housing has a chamfer of 20° - 40° for easier mounting. To achieve minimum clearances after mounting (IT7 or higher), finishing should take place in the mounted state. For this purpose, deva.bm can be provided with a machining allowance, in which case the running-in film has to be applied after finishing. Permissible...

deva.bm ® maintenance-free 6.3 Description what values to be considered for design DEVA® differentiates load cases (0 to 3) regarding the character of load stressing a bearing. This is to consider fatigue influences in case of dynamic pressure. The percentage values are refering to the limit values described in the material data sheet or technical handbooks. This worksheet is related to DEVA work instruction A 616 (see also “Qualitäts-, Umwelt- und ArbeitsschutzManagement Handbuch, Verfahrensanweisungen + Arbeitsanweisung”).
